Thread: CartoonChaos Announces: uTorrent 2.0+ and imminent ban

This is a preliminary warning to all our members, who are currently using, or are thinking about switching to uTorrent 2.0 or later. It appears that the uTorrent development team has implemented a new feature into v2.0 that displays certain behaviour long considered "unethical" in many private BT circles, including ours. This feature causes uT 2.0 to prefer uT 2.0 over any other client out there, giving users of that client what is considered to be an unfair advantage in seeding. BitComet, a popular client in the past, behaved much the same way, resulting in that client being banned from pretty much every private site in existence.

Communication between representatives of the BT community and the uTorrent development team is undergoing, however at this stage the problem was not resolved yet. As a result, multiple private sites have already banned this client, and many others are likely to follow in the very near future.

We would like to both inform users about that within the next few days (by Thursday at latest) we plan to ban this version of uTorrent until these issues are resolved. In the meantime we encourage those who haven't upgraded yet to refrain from doing so for now, and strongly recommend to those who have already upgraded to downgrade to earlier versions before the client ban. The best, fastest and most recommended versions of uT for usage on a private tracker are:

Now that is interesting.
I always thought the new uT protocol would have been beneficial to most of the community and never gave it much thought, but it really opens up a new way of thinking.
