That's really sad that any of the staff @ the irc don't know anything about the down...

It's really afflicting and upsetting to see that... this admin don't give a shit about his site ok, that's sad but that's his choice.
But what's the point to prevent his staff from taking care of the tracker...
I really don't get it, looks like sabotage to me.

It was an awesome tracker; (lol the review I have written for it was some days before it closes) it was pretty easy to maintain good ratio and it had awesome packs.. I'll miss you ScL! Hope its not the end, but it will propably be..

I have never been on SCL but reading at your comments, it sounds like a great tracker. Sad to see it go and i wish everyone who was on there to find another tracker like it.

I have been a good member of SCL for months and always been active in IRC due to the 100mb/hr idling there. It's really sad to see SCL gone. I missed their well made tv & movie packs T_T.

There have been a number of news and reports about the financial difficulties faced both by the tracker sites and release groups alike (see FILEnetworks Blog: Scene release group BIE calls it quits for example). Money does talk in the end, even if only because in times of trouble you need to take away time from fun and put it into work

I would venture to guess that very closed high level trackers might suffer the most since the community is based more on uploaders than on leechers and there are both less people as a total and less people that need upload credit as a percentage. Large communities have better chance of getting the donations that they need to run the servers also newbies who screw their ratio might be more inclined to simply pay to get it right.

I suspect that the VIP status will mean more and more a freeleech status among others.
