Thread: BitGamer Changes Invites, again

About a week and a half ago, we decided to shut down the invite system. You can read about the precise reasoning in the linked thread.

Now that the dust has settled and we've gotten a better assessment of the userbase, we've come up with a more durable solution that accomplishes our objectives while still allowing new members in.

The new setup will give Elite Users and above one invite every 15 days. The invites will not stack, which means that you can never have more than one invite.

Again, we believe this will maintain our objectives, which consisted primarily of limiting the number of new members to keep cheaters from signing up for new accounts repeatedly and also to create scarcity so members valued their accounts more. We believe this solution is actually better, however, because it also allows our highest-classed members to use their judgement to continue to keep the community growing.

To maintain the integrity of the new system, users found to be abusing their invites will have their invites removed forever!

I think this is a great change. It definitely reflects the quality of that tracker, and now pairs it with a similar exclusivity. BitGamer has alot of great, GREAT packs, and most are FL. Its easy to seed (maybe not to elite), and has a great forum.

Now to upload the next 100g to get to Elite!

Well at least they will give out invites again but they will be far less common now. I think they are trying to up the level of the tracker so this kind of makes sense.

I haz invites, oh i mean invite. From my point of view, it's good that they reduced the number of invites, because is a good tracker, and they can be more careful about users security.

Thanks for the info claripal. I went on bg yesterday and realized all my invites were gone so now i know why. This is a great move by bg, it will surely improve the tracker and people will have a harder time getting in there. Maybe they are trying to become more strict like BCG which is a great thing.

Yes. This is definitely a good move, more radical than what I would have expected. Actually, I now have more respect for BG.

i still need few gb's till 250, but i have to wait like 3 months to get Elite

Definately far less common now, :

"Elite Users have all of the privileges of Power User, the ability to leech 50 torrents at a time, given 1 invite at promotion, and a customised title. To become an Elite User, you must have been be a member for at least 16 weeks, upload at least 250GB and have a ratio at or above 1.25. Additionally, you are required to have made 10 forum posts and 10 torrent comments. The promotion is automatic when these conditions are met. However, keep in mind that you will be automatically demoted from this status if your ratio drops below 1.0 at any time. Note that a ratio of "Inf." does not count towards class promotion."

hmm. looks like it wont be as easy for some users to get a bG invite on here now. shame...

I think its a good thing. Creates a tighter community i feel which can only result in better quality.
