Thread: Do you seed on Public trackers?

i used to seed more than i do now, now i never risk it, but my use for public trackers has gone down a very considerable amount too

it's not bad to seed to public trackers , afterall there are (brothers in torrent) without any private trackers and they are people who do need to get their stuff just like people on private trackers do . If only it weren't for the security clash :-[ but personally i always stopped torrents right after i got them , mainly because of my low bandwidth .

I know that people seed less on public trackers due to it being more risky and no punishment for not seeding, so when I do download a file through public trackers I seed it for either a minimum of a week, or until it hits a 20:1 ratio. To help minimize the security risk I always use a 100mbit dedicated IP VPN when torrenting on public trackers.

I used to seed on public trackers.But then I discovered Private trackers so I dont even use them anymore.

Well, I don't seed a lot there, only if it's things that are rare to find, if I find it I will leave seeding for such guys that are seeking for the same stuff :)

I did back when I didn't know about private trackers

For me, it depends on the seed/leech ratio and what I'm downloading. If I see far more leeches than seeds, then I will seed to at least 2. If it is something I don't feel very nervous about (like an eBook collection or something) - I'll seed higher than that.

However, if there are very few leeches and plenty of seeders - or if it is a file I feel nervous about, I'll stop between 1 - 1.5.

Very rarely will I stop when my ratio is below 1 - mainly because I feel guilty for not giving back at least what I took.

I don't download much there but when I do I seed until I'm at least over 1:1.
