Thread: Anyone ever been caught?

Has anyone ever been caught or warned pirating through torrents? I was thinking about this today, because years and years ago, I got a warning in the mail from 'NBC Universal' stating they found me downloading two torrents illegally. I was just warned. Has anyone else had any similar experiences? With the FBI really attempting to crack down on piracy now, I'm wondering how often it is people are actually getting in trouble.

I got two cease and desist letters two years ago. Some anti p2p agency sent a letter to my isp then my isp sent it to me. Nothing ever happened out of it.

Im from Colombia, nobody here was ever caughted and i think it will never happen.

Yeah cablevision sent me 2. One was on white paper. The other was on yellow. I guess the next one might be red? o_O

You hear and read about this alot of times in the news about that it is strictly forbidden and that you can get a fierce penalty for downloading with torrents bla bla.
But as far as I know, only the sites that provide us with torrents get caught and get penalties, not the people who download.

I believe, that here in Holland, it is not forbidden to download with torrents. Only uploading products like music and movies and owning a website that provides torrents is forbidden here. So this way the downloaders cant get caught, only the owners of the websites.
I'm not sure if this law is still active though.
