Thread: Have you ever used newsgroups or mirc to download content?

I have seen and heard some of these methods being used to download content around the net, but haven't ever used these methods myself. Have any of you used mirc to download content or newsgroups before? I am most curious about the speeds you get from let's say, downloading a movie off mirc.

Haven't used mIRC to download, but I have used Newsgroups. I had an account with UseNext, and was actually quite pleased with it.

I have use mirc before I knew about torrents like 2 years ago, there are good channels in Mirc with a lot of content but not as private torrent sites....the speed depends on the bots (most of them hacked), thats why private torrent sites are better, I have heard about newsgroups but have never try it, are newsgroups good as private torrent sites?

newsgroups are good in there own ways,but id prefer private trackers,and most like TL,SCL etc get the things in before newsgroups

I've used both mirc and newsgroups but prefer my torrents....

I've used mIRC to download music-videos(VOB's).

used usenet before but it alot of search work and i miss the community so im back too torrents :)

I used mIRC before, stopped though, to switch to torrents. Was getting annoying to type my requests and stuff.

Tried to use newsgroups, though, I could never figure out how to set it up right.
