    Dear All,

I often see people are complaining regarding their seedbox speed which is not as advertised by vendor.
Well to be clear, I dont want we directly blame the hosting provider ...
Lets just have a look first on how do we exactly test the speed?

The speed you see on torrent client, it all depends on how much leechers you have. Not only that, how will you guarantee that those leechers have tremendous hi speed download as well? Who can guarantee that they did not limit their DL speed on purpose (like to slowly build up ratio) ?
So it is not always correct to judge based on your average UL speed on your torrent client.

Unless probably you have 100 torrents active at the same time, and all of them have huge leechers compared with seeders... now in this case your true bandwidth shows its limit, where you can rely on.

If you want to simply test the real bandwidth, go for FTP.
Use standard FTP client on shell under certain VPS or dedi outside... to connect to your seedbox.
    Then download a file.
Command line FTP is one the most ancient protocol, which only uses one slot to connect and download at a time.
Create two or three connections at a time, and download different file.
There you will see how is your speed performing.

And if the speed still didnt meet your expectation, you could report to the vendor. Now you have reasons.

We have to also put attention on HDD usage. Unlike fibre connection which is Duplex.. harddisk usage is difficult to share. So you might want to check your server harddisk type, how much speed, and how many users to share.
Often if all torrent users upload many torrents at once, the real limitation is at the harddisk. Not at the port.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Hi luke,
where is ur current location, and where is your seedbox residing?
For me it looks like u want to DL files from seedbox to your pc. It might be home ISP problem.
Ive never tried, but u might want to try dl tool like flashget which supports multithread FTP DL.
