What does it mean that somone is cheating in a tracker? How does this work. I don't need a step by step guide :001_tongue: b/c I have no intention of ever cheating. Just wondering how these people cheat and how I can find someone who is cheating.
(I don't mean on T-I, I know how people cheat on here)

    Can be two things:
    1. Your torrent client is designed to cheat, or
    2. You torrent client is legit, but you install cheat client (proxifies the client).

It is simply reporting wrong UL/ DL msg to tracker.
The tracker does not monitor traffic real time (or else it would need huge resources). The tracker only periodically asks for how much has been DL/ UL to the client.
    The client may Lie....

The trackers admin, esp. big ones like Waffles, they did researches on ratio cheater softwares. By doing so, they modify the tracker script to detect this kind of cheating.

IMO, torrent works in circle. If you total all UL of peers... you should get the same number with total DL of all peers.
    peer UL DL
    A 5 0
    B 1 4
    C 2 4
    total 8 8

Now if somebody (i.e. B) is cheating... say he cheats ratio to be 1:1, you will get
    peer UL DL
    A 5 0
    B 4 4
    C 2 4
    total 11 8
    In which 11 <> 8
this is only small example to detect cheater. But it's difficult to do in big swarm.
Usually those admins prefer to detect the protocols, instead of detecting statistics.
They can know whether you are cheating or not, just even from the first announce.

They also set the tracker to alert them, if finds a peer with very huge report (read: hi speed upload). They will note this and will ask for your speed proof.
If you can prove (like own OVH seedbox), you will be put into whitelist. Else, you will be banned.

There are many ways people cheat, but the biggest thing in my opinion is ratio cheating. This means they spoofed there ratio to report something higher then it actually is. They do this in many different ways using some type of ratio cheating software or a modified client. However, people who cheat will always get caught and trackers usually run scripts to search for people using this type of technique.

Here is a great tutorial by JustJenna on how to spot a cheater. u should check it out cause its very helpful: http://www.torrent-invites.com/tutor...o-cheater.html

So pirates made software to cheat other pirates? LOL what is this world coming to?!
I read the JustJenna post before posting this, but her post is more about how people cheat to get invites on T-I.

Tell me about it. I still cant get over it. U know you're loser when u have to cheat torrenting. Unbelievable, isnt it? The main way people cheat on trackers is using modified clients. I dont know if someone like us could tell, but like princest.zelda said there are signs on what to look for. These cheaters always have different ways to stay undetectable, but they will get caught eventually.

If your good you can bypass the client cheating method all together and just sql inject whatever ratio/stats you want directly into the database.

yes i am aware of a program called that i dont care to name, because i can see some desperados getting it, that basically tells the server whatever values you put into it. so you can 'upload' at 5mb/s on dialup. there are also hacked versions of utorrent and the like that upload at 10x the amount you are actually uploading. either way most private trackers are pretty good at catching people out.

I hate cheaters, I've had invites revoked and accounts almost lost because of these assholes
    Only need 1 more tracker - F*N

Rent an OVH EG-BestOf10R Gigabit Seedbox. It's all mine. I don't like sharing even with 100 MB/s
