Default How do you cope with throttling??

It seems my ISP is throttling my bittorrent traffic. I tried all the switches I could find in the uTorrent forums: force encryption, lower bt.connect_speed and net.half_open etc but it doesnt seem to help. I checked with this site: Glasnost: Test if your ISP is manipulating BitTorrent traffic
So how do you guys fight the battle with your ISPs, can you suggest me some weapons? Thanks!

Changing your ISP is probably the best solution.
But you might want to check if it's really the ISP that's causing problems, i.e. ask somebody who uses the same ISP or politely ask their tech support.

are you having trouble browsing the web? also you may just to test things out want to try using a different torrent clients just for kicks. Also if it is your ISP then you might want to concider investing in a speedbox that way you wont have any trouble with them throttling. Are you behind a router? Have u tried using different ports as well on your utorrent?

Get a seedbox (even a cheap shared seedbox service will do). I know of one for $15usd a month.

Download everything to your seedbox, then grab the files from your seedbox with FTP with SSL encryption (or even the safer SSH FTP, aka SFTP).

Yeah, if your concern is downloading as fast as possible to build your ratio on a private tracker, then you have no choice but a seedbox.

However, if your only frustrated from having to watch a slow progressing download, I would suggest using an old computer and building it into a home seedbox. Leave it on all the time, and do all your torrenting through it. That allows you to go about your business, turn your computer on or off, take your laptop to work, without having to worry about your torrent application. It's always going to be working in the background. I've been doing this for quite a while now.

My ISP throttles my connection in my country. I have 2 clients. One I use for normal downloads that are not too urgent and another is alittle thing called uTorrent 2.0 beta. I know its beta and not every tracker supports it but its works great! It unthrottles because it uses UTP rather than the standard UDP and TCP. Check it out!

This is a good, but often overlooked, idea. Most ISP's only look for default uTorrent port ranges & higher port ranges that people use generally (6,000ish). Try a port for something like gaming (27020 for example) and see how that goes.

Yup I have tried bittorrend ports, middle ranged and > 49151, all the same :(.
hummingbird, can being behind a router affect only my bittorent speed? The speed i use for other tasks is ok, i dont experience lag with my browser. Ive forwarded my port properly and im connectable at the trackers.
Thanks jatoshiwong, Ill try v2.0 & see if it helps.
But I guess getting a seedbox is the best alternative, ill start looking for one. Thanks for the replies all.

It doesn't sound like you're going to be able to get around your problem unless you are able to encrypt your bit-torrent traffic. I haven't tried it on a private tracker yet. See this link for some assistance: How To Encrypt BitTorrent Traffic | TorrentFreak and Bad ISPs - AzureusWiki You could probably find more stuff if you spent some time googling.

Many ISP's have invested in traffic shaping hardware that does deep packet inspection. I'm not a network guy, but from what I've read the stuff works quite well. I believe this makes port choice and basic encryption more or less irrelevant. You're going to need a more sophisticated encryption scheme if you want to beat throttling from home. Of course, as people have mentioned there's always a seed box.
