Default Why do trackers hate invite forums?!?

I mean there is no logic. Where else but in invite forums you'll find more torrent geeks who have formed a whole community for torrent invites. Invite forums practically do the trackers' job of selecting new good members.

And instead of being proud that your application for an invite was selected by a trusted member among a dozen competitors, everyone tries to hide the fact they're a member of an invite forum.

The trackers say give only to friends you trust. But how many of you have real life friends that are more reliable of being active and keeping good ratio than most of the ppl you meet in an invite forum - I have at most 1-2. Hell, in interviews during open signups trackers even ask for the same ratio proofs and speedtests as here.

Anyone has any idea why trackers would rather ban someone if they learn he won his invite in a GA at T-I instead of even promoting him if the competition for the GA was tough? It doesnt make sense to me.

Take a look around here. There are many, many great users who are donators, good seeders, and good active members all over T-I. Unfortunately, there is another side of T-I. As many good members are here, there are just as many people here who are invite sellers, traders, cheaters, and collectors. Don't believe me? Take a look at the chopping block. Also, take into account that the chopping block only accounts for a fraction of the people who get banned here. The staff here is constantly banning people "behind the scenes." I've been here for quite a while. I've seen so many people who I thought I could trust 100% turn out to be sellers, traders, or cheaters. Stick around long enough, make some friends, and you will soon see what I mean.

Also, many of the higher level trackers don't want their tracker mentioned at all (even by abbreviation) in a public forum (which is what T-I is).

Yeah, I second what an5555 said. There is absolutely a much higher concentration of great users here who generally become power users, donators, and beyond in the trackers that they are a part of. But by allowing open enough access to be considered public - we do get some more of the nefarious characters.

In their minds, they have more bad than good come in through these channels, so they ban them. Similar to why a number of trackers ban entire countries. The staff feels as though they lose less by banning the entire country compared to the effort they need to put in to regulate. Whether it is right or not is debatable, but the staff of trackers are generally paranoid (with good reason since there are many organizations that would like to shut them down if they knew about them) - so they tend to take the approach that is more likely to alienate users.

Most reasons already have been stated here.
Like everywhere there are good people and bad people.
    So you never know.

Here there are good members and then there are others who are retarded and complete morons. Like Kareem and his 200 accounts here.

But most of bad useres here dont stand a chance with Justjenna and Jekata watching like hawks over new intros.

high end trackers hate invite forums because invite forums lead to TRADING invites...invite forums are the leading cause of trading invites...which leads to the members inviting poor members to trackers just so they can fulfill their desire of being a member in a certain tracker.

in the end, you should only invite people you trust...because they can in turn screw you over if you just invited some random guy just so you could get an invite from them

Where do you think all the anti piracy groups and legal reps for copyright owners get their access to trackers from?

Unfortunately it's places like this. TL recently had an incident where a number of members received notices regarding copyright theft of pirated material. They must have got access to the site somehow and the most likely place is a site like TI, a trading forum or buying one.

I doubt a federal agent would put up the effort to crack a site like TL unless the opportunity was like shining in gold. Maybe (s)he had a IRL friend that gave invite?

Either way, i second what almost everyone else said besides Dextros... it's true.

basically it's because these sites often have reviews of the tracker and inside previews that causes publicity. Plus bad members often can join.
