Default why use so many trackers?

hey guys, I am new here and I really just joined to give away my invites. I am a member of 3 trackers, what.cd, goem and torrentleech. I can get everything I could possibly ask for/want from one of these three.

my question: why are so many of you a part of so many different trackers? what is the point of this... I get terrific speeds from TL, and it has all tv shows and live airs etc... I see no need to find another tracker for tv shows..
same logic applies for music with what.cd, and movies with goem.

can someone please enlighten me? what am I missing? I have no real desire to join more, and I would be afraid of not being able to keep up a good ratio, since I would not know which trackers to download what from....

edit: I tried using the search function, but due to the vagueness of my search string I got no luck. If this has already been discussed in detail, and someone can lead me to the thread I would appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Im not gonna count, but probably 11 (maybe a few more), although I am only really "active" on like 6 at a time.

TL & IPT- For manly everything (mostly new releases to update my site)
BCG- For my personal use in downloading game content
Waffles- for all my music needs
BrokenStones- To keep my Mac updated
    And so on...

I keep them around mostly as sources to fill requests on the tracker that I use the most. And sometimes I have to search 5+ trackers for something, but not often. They are slowly dwindling away, but I can think of probably 8-10 I will end up with, most specialty trackers.

Lots of trackers offer different content & perks, i.e Packs/ ratioless/ Freeleech etc and each have their own unique community.

If you want me to go deeper, just PM me and i will think of a valid reason. lol. Im way tired.

do you feel that many of these websites are at risk of being shutdown? and maybe that is why people are members of multiple?

nope, i think everyone has their reasons. Shutting down is the least of our worries. Take you for instance, your happy on TL, what if i told you (for example) that i know of a tracker that has everything TL has, has faster speeds, etc. That kind of stuff makes people curious and want to be apart of something new / the exclusivity etc..

There are some people who want to be a part of a number of trackers because they are exclusive. Sort of the "gotta catch 'em all" syndrome where people like having them because they can.

Others like the bragging right of being a part of a number of trackers. For example, part of the reason why so many people search for F*N is due to its exclusivity. While there are many who can benefit from this tracker and have great reasons for wanting it, many others want it due to its exclusivity.

Though in the process of getting an exclusive invite, you have to establish yourself at a number of lower level trackers that tend to go by the the wayside when the user favors the newer, faster, better tracker.

It is also good to have some overlap between trackers. For example, what and waffles are considered harder to keep a ratio in than a number of other trackers. A member generally will be happy and have plenty of access to all they need in either one of these. By having both, you get a lot of overlap - so downloading a torrent from one generally can either be upped or seeded on the other one.

There are a number of reason to have multiple trackers - some are far better than others. For me, I am okay with overlap, but I generally go after 1 tracker at a time. I feel as though getting multiple trackers in succession divides my attention between them too much initially, but that may just be me.

And for reference, I have accounts at about 11 trackers - and I regularly use 7 of them (the others I signed up for and didn't like as much or were trumped later by far better trackers).

some trackers offer packs that you cant find at other places. For example s*t has great packs and speed but scc and has better pre times. If you are the casual torrenter you really dont need that many different torrent sites, only 1 or 2 will do.

I use a lot because every tracker can offer me something new that others can't like some packs or some hard to find torrents, or good pretimes and so on.

thank you all for your responses, really thank you.

I am the casual torrenter, but I have a comment on packs, half the time I see these packs and don't even want to download them because I only want / like a few things in them....

I never understood the point of 0day packs, do you really need/want all of those randomized apps???

    Ill give you an example.

I love Tv packs. In TB you can DL a pack (its free here and almost everywhere) even old pack and still get decent speed and even get a ratio 1:1. And its not one of my favorites.

But the most reasons have been stated above.

In 4-5 months i bet you are going to have over 10-15 tracker.
