After having some strange ratio issues at IPT I investigated on their forums and found out that a LOT of people are having issues with accurate ratio reports when using version 1.8.3 of uTorrent.
The recommended option is to switch back to 1.8.2 and disable automatic updating.

Haven't had a problem with 1.8.3 yet. I was thinking of sticking to .2, but I thought - "Heck why not?" Thanks for the news, and the link, however. +thanks
I have had a few problems myself. I thought it was just other things they weren't to drastic. I mean it wouldnt update like a very little amount 6mb but i think im switching back amyway
From my experiences I never updated until trackers take it as an acceptable version.
General Rules
Yeah I think a lot of people that are veterans do that Schuwe, but to those of us newer to private trackers, I don't think it's quite as common knowledge that they individually test each version.
I also found that the most popular uTorent version 1.6.1 I believe it is, is becoming less supported on some trackers.
