Thread: Public vs. Private trackers

I'm sorry to use this comparison but, it's like the difference between public/private school, or golf course, or nice night club.
Any 13 year old kid using their parents ISP can get into any public tracker and pollute the rest of the site.
Private trackers are more secure, better organized, and have faster speeds.
The users in the hard to get in trackers are the cream of the crop, and these sites are correct for making it hard to get into.
I'm happy that someone is watching out for those that cheat and steal in these trackers.
No question, private trackers are why we are here.

I feel more secure on a private tracker. Also, private trackers will always have more seeders than leechers.

Well, the users in private areas have a lower chance of giving you herpes... so yeah, the security and accountability are very important

I'm actually very annoyed at public trackers these days, because it seems people out there don't understand that this whole torrent concept is built on sharing, and so you get 100 seeders and 50,000 leechers, and every torrent no matter how popular take ages to download.

Did anyone else notice that TV shows in particular are much slower on public trackers these days?

Also, what is the motivation to seed on public trackers, other than "being a good guy" ??

Private has been good to me. I have been using it for some years now and glad that i did. The public ones have too many viruses. Plus i always thought it was much safer with private trackers.

Private trackers are safer and faster but while using public i may take you days downloading what you need . But everything on the public tracker exists and lasts more than if it is on the private .I always keep btjunkie.com (Very good public tracker) in my mind while searching for some stuff wich doesn't exist on private trackers .

The most basic thing i've noticed in general when it comes to comparing public and private is:

Private = Fast, but smaller selection
Public = Slow, Huge Selection

Private tracker's very safe (no virus or spy,...) and their torrents're never die cause you can ask for reseed!
