a noob question : some private won't let a new user to access their top 10 torrents. how do you solve this ?

When first joined a private tracker, always don't just leech what you like, but leech BY POPULAR DEMANDS.
My 2 factors to build up ratio:
Popularity and Longevity.
How to you judge a torrent's popularity and longevity?
Well to me, it's like an art form :), no it's rather depends on your instinct.
Some of my thoughts:
- popular tv episodes (packs)
- latest, hottest encodes
- top ten movies of the year
- QUALITY encodes
- Special events
- Great documentaries
- 18+ contents
- etc..

just my 2 cents,


Never start by download what you really want or need, download first those very popular torrents, those with dozens of leechers to build up your ratio.
If the tracker offers freeleech or 2x up,etc.. always consider in downloading them

Of example i joined Bit-hdtv some weeks ago and currently have a ratio >30.000 lolll



ps. Just wanna add that most of the times i login to my trackers, is to look for a "good" torrent (full of leechers) to build my ratio, so when a game/movie/serie i want cames out i have enough ratio to download it.

The only way is to wait for it till its available. In the mean time, you can do as others have said. Try to find it else where and download a portion of it and when its available from the other site, seed until you increase your status.

Top 10 is not always the best torrents to seed you know, mainly cause they tend to have tons of seeds. Best practice imo is popular small sized TV episodes as they come up and patience. Cross seed a little too. Don't go directly for TL start from an easier tracker and build up your ratio and class there. Then proceed to TL and cross seed. Get a seedbox as well :p

Quite true. I was acutally a member at TL for a couple of years until I was assigned baby duties. After a sometime my account got shoveled for inactivity. Nonetheless, I'm gonna make a comeback.

thanks, this is useful. maintaining a ratio at high level places such as what.cd is difficult. i find the best way to increase ones ratio is to post stuff at the highest quality you can because the bigger the file size the more upload you get.

also, buying cd's, games, dvd's, etc. and upping them helps a lot.

I find Downloading newer releases and letting them seed X10 is the best bet to keep your ratio up.
Remember that older movies/shows will not be as leached so you must make up for it somewhere
