Thread: SceneRace vs. GFT (battle of the ratio free trackers!)

I dunno if you guys have heard it, but SceneRace has become a ratioless tracker (and it has closed its open signups!), and I'm sure it's gonna give GFT a run for its money. Read about it here -

Now, just after a month since their launch, SceneRace have introduced the first major change to the tracker – SceneRace v2. One of the highlights in SceneRace 2 is the tracker going ratio-free. Several other new features including enhancements to site interface, search feature, changes to upload system too have been introduced.

A detailed explanation on SceneRace’s new ‘ratio-free’ nature is posted on the site’s homepage:

Now all you and the rest of the community can see is your upload. And that's all that matters.
We plan to add more around this in the near future, but for now we're a simple ratio-less site. (Please be aware staff can still see your ratio, so excessive leeching will still be punished)

In addition to becoming a ratio free tracker, ScR v2 introduces several other features such as a new torrent search which now allows search by release group name, a new torrent details page which displays cover art (if applicable), torrent info, torrent stats, tags and torrent actions, a new upload system, a new theme (now they have 7 themes) and monthly VIP raffles.

ScR coders had already managed to implement a ‘credits system’ even before the launch of v2. According to site admins, there will soon be some new features in ScR v2 such as casinos that’ll tighten the integration the credits system.

SceneRace currently tracks close to 500 active torrents and has over 2700 members. This tracker was open for signup until today but with the launch of ScR v2 the open registration period has ended. All existing members have been given two invites each – it should not be hard to find an invite even if the registrations are closed.

SceneRace is a ratioless tracker, however our seeding rules are actually quite stringent... possibly even more so then other trackers

Everyone starts with a free 2GB buffer, there's no "I'm new here gimme a break i don't have buffer" stuff. Everyone starts with a buffer, everyone else does fine

Every Torrent must be seeded to a 1:1 ratio or for 72 hours

Freeleech/upload multiply torrents must be seeded for 72 hours regardless of uploaded amount

Now that you have comparatively easier access to a ratioless tracker - which one would you chose over the other?

Also I'm pretty sure these are the two most used ratio free trackers on TI (or will be), so which of these two would you prefer? the gft currently has a larger database - but which community do you think would become more successful?

i voted for scr because i belong there, so i can't have an opinion of the other place :P

I'm on neither but like the Idea. Hopefully I find a way in to try them out.

I vote GFT just from word of mouth and the fact that I wasn't too impressed with ScR

Is it worth more as such? No. But will more people seek it? Yes. To download something and only seed for three days without worrying about a global ratio is always a boon.

GFT is my vote, because I am not a member of SceneRace. Might want to try it out now, though. I hate my terrible speeds :(

SceneRace is shockingly bad. The pretimes are days behind and that's if they actually even get the torrent on the site. Signed up a while ago, log in rarely now. I'm guessing they're doing this to try and get some movement on the site as it is by far the worst tracker I have ever signed up to.

Awful pretimes.
Lack of new torrents.
Lack of seeders and leechers (due to the above)

It looks nice though.

EDIT - I can't log in now as it's been so long I actually deleted the bookmark. That's how unimpressed I was.

From what I hear I would vote GFT.. Would love to be part of that..

Only ratio free tracker I'm on is SceneLive and it has an open signup and less than 1000 torrents so far :(

It's new tho.. So maybe it will get better :)
