I think the way most isps in the UK treat their customers is very poor. If you consider changing, I've used talk talk before and they will throttle you during peak hours but I never got a notification like that, I use BT now which is very similar. I have this on all day and theres never been a problems though I wont get good torrent speeds between 5-10pm yet other things like netflix work fine.
Vermin media don't have a complaints department you can ring directly (typical)
But i do have the number for the CEO officeRing them and tell them you're not happy because the adverts say unlimited and now you're being told theres limits.

I'm with Virgin Media and I've had two of these letters and I know from member of a Newsgroup forum I'm on that they are disconnecting people for detrimental use of the service after three of these letters have been sent out and they refused their custom when they tried to sign up again in their wife's name at the same address so they are serious about it.
So.. pretty much I have re-scheduled my downloads to between 9pm and 9am and I have no problem downloading 120Gb a night during that time. However it does make torrenting (specifically seeding back) an issue so I had to start using a seedbox and FTP'ing snatches back down to myself after 9pm and I have utorrent running 24/7 but throttled between 9am and 9pm so I don't go over the daytime traffic trigger.
I haven't received any further letters since I started observing their rescheduling request and when I rang up about it I was quite honest and said I was downloading blu-ray discs and they don't seem to have a problem with this or the volume being transferred so long as it's not happening between 9am and 9pm. Yes it's a pain but there isn't another provider anything close to it in speed.

Wow Cinema!
When did you get your last letter? I got mine just last week so that's why I am being extremely cautious by not downloading anything whatsoever. It is quite surprising that they didn't make much of you downloading blu-ray's lol.
Do members get permanently disconnected, like no chance of coming back? I heard people had to fill out a form and send it back in order to have their internet reinstated.
Approximately how much do you download per night, I'd like to keep a similar amount too so I don't get in trouble either lol.
I love my ISP. The same thing had happened in my area with uncapped bandwidth (people using a lot during peak) So when my internet started to drop a little too often I called them and they had already said "we're working in your area to upgrade our lines so everyone is able to use it and it won't keep dropping when it gets busy" (paraphrasing of course ;) ) They've been great to me so far, I even get a free month every year of their upgraded package (30/5 up from 20/2 D/U). I'm on Optimum Online up in the Northeast US.
