Default How to hide IP address from ISP?

I wanted to know if you can hide your IP address from your ISP? I've read that you can't but would just like to make sure. I have a new ISP and my earlier one warned me twice coz they knew what exact movies/TV series (Rush hour 3 & the Riches) I downloaded from torrents and they were copyrighted. Anyways, I would really appreciate some enlightening answers.

You can't hide your IP from your ISP because the ISP is the one that is giving you your IP address in the first place. I think what you mean is if there is a way to hide or encrypt your traffic from your ISP. If you want to be more anonymous, you can use a proxy with your torrent client and also enable traffic encryption to prevent throttling of speeds.

To do so would be impossible. Steps you can should take to ensure a safer and generally better torrenting experience may include:

    1. Enable Protocol encryption
    2. Block suspicious IP addresses using a program such as peerblock.
    3. Download from "trustworthy", less monitored sources. Being the main point of a website such as this, private trackers are your friend, use them. If you absolutely must download from a public tracker stick with users that have been around for awhile and have a good reputation. EX. Green/Pink skulls on thepiratebay.

Stay off public trackers. Force all torrent communication to be encrypted. Don't use standard ports. Get a seedbox.

Your ISP recieved a DMCA notice from an anti p2p company then forwarded the notice on to you (as they must by law)

To avoid this happening again a seedbox with SFTP and/or a VPN Encyption means nobody can snoop on the traffic even with DPI

You can go for a VPN service (make sure you go for one which supports torrent as well). Take some time before deciding which VPN provider to use - ideally they should keep NO LOGS AT ALL (shouldn't store IP address or any other detail at all), and give you full speeds at all times. Research properly, there are VPN providers which do give you complete anonymity and also some which keep extended logs which might actually get you in more trouble. This way all your internet traffic comes redirected through VPN provider encrypted so your ISP doesn't know what you're using/downloading on the internet.

Another way might be to get a seedbox and download via secure FTP. This way too the ISP has no idea about what you are downloading (but only for torrents from seedbox downloaded via secure FTP). For this, you'll need to download only from private torrent trackers and stay away from public trackers.
