I see a lot of threads about top x general trackers or best ebooks tracker..etc. They are good because you get an idea of which trackers people use, but rarely do you get an idea of why. I'm interested in the why. Why use tvttorrents.com over freshon.tv or vice versa. Why use SCC over TL or vice versa, etc. (This thread may be a flop, so don't hate me :P)

Anyhow, here is my testimonial. Follow it with your own if you'd like.

    Connection Speed (down/up)
    20 mbps/2mbps

How many Trackers do you use regularly?
    About 5-6

Where do you get Movies? (why? looking for better? etc)
IPT I'm very interested in English language movies. Love to stay home and watch them :) However, I don't care about HD content. It's nice, but it's not a hard requirement. But I just got into PTP and looking into it to see if I get more into HD quality movies.

    Where do you get
    TV Shows?
BTN I'm very into TV shows. I started out by TvTorrents.com since BTN is hard to get into. But once I got into BTN, I don't really use TVT much. The best thing about BTN is that you get credit for seeding packs for a long time. So even with a slow connection, if you have the time and the HD space, you can get some nice bonus points.

    Where do you get
    Music?
IPT or PTM I'm not into music much at all. General trackers are good enough for me. Trying to resist the urge to join What.CD

    Where do you get
    Games?
BitGamer Hard core PC gamer :) Don't really game on consoles. Satisfied :)

    Where do you get Books
    ?
Myanonamouse I'm an avid reader of mainstream books. Satisfied :)

Other Interests (replace with any other interests you have that I don't)

Where do you get General stuff?
IPT or PTM or Demonoid I can get a lot of what I am looking for on IPT and its easy to seed on this tracker. But if not, I'll look on PTM or Demonoid. Demonoid is great, but you have to be careful about the quality you get, so it's a last resort for me. I just started using PTM, so I'm just working on buffering some upload right now through a seedbox. I can see it replacing IPT if I can get enough upload buffered :) Unfortunately, there are things I want that I can't find, so I'm also looking into SCC and TLas well. I'd hate to have so many trackers, but it sucks to look for something and not find it, so you need to have multiple trackers to look through :/

    Do you use a seedbox?
Yes. I don't use one all the time, but I'll use one to get my upload buffered as needed. Wish I could afford to use one all the time though :)

Trackers you don't use or wish you didn't apply to?
FYTSomeone suggested this to me, but it looks like its pretty dead. Wish I never joined. However, if you are looking to become staff at a tracker, there might be some opportunities here as they are taking apps.

    Other Thoughts

I'd recommend sticking to a few good trackers by researching them before you signup. First thing you should do is figure out what your needs and wants are, and then find out which trackers fit for you. I also wouldn't recommend some of the harder to seed trackers like PTM, since you will need a Seedbox. Unless of course you are willing and able to pay for a seedbox.
If you are new to private trackers, keep in mind that Time is the best and sometimes only way to "move up" in this world. So sign up for a couple of trackers you will use religiously and in 2-3 months you'll probably have power user status and very good ratio proofs to get you into the more difficult to get into trackers.

I have just started using private trackers. I use Torrentday (who I've been a member of for some time) as a general tracker, can get most of the stuff I like on it and it serves as a safe 'feeder' tracker for the other harder to increase ratio sites I am a member of. Even using just Azureus and Vuze, I had no problems maintaining a good ratio on TD due to the high peer/seed ratio's.

At the moment the list of trackers I use is very short as I'm building ratio on a few rather than acquiring a list as long as my arm, half of which I wouldn't use regularly (plus I'm a bit embarrassed to ask for invites I find lol).

I was offered an invite to TL when I got a seedbox by the owner of the seedbox. I used the invite and that was that. An addict was born lol. Within that first day I figured out how to use the seedbox and cross seed so been growing my ratio on TL. I then was given an invite to BitGamer.., and building my ratio on there. Its a great site for old and new games.., mini console or xbox/ps3 (so great for those who've built up a buffer with scratched discs). Ratio of seeds to peer are ok as long as you jump on a game quickly and cross seed as much as possible. My son is game mad and it got to a point the end of last week when he moaned I was getting him too many games lol (you just can't please some people can u lol?). That made me laugh!

I also have been a longstanding member of The Box.bz which stocks UK made programmes. Nowadays I find it a bit limited and the pool of seeders/peers is quite small so I don't use it much.

I'd like to start using IPT, and a good TV torrent site but am kindof taking it slowly. I really don't want to seem like one of those 'collectors' I hear about on here lol. I'd prefer to establish a reputation on here as being a good solid contributor. I'm not trying to seem self serving with that comment.., its just the way some people are lol.

goem, TL or revTT if not on goem Movies, specifically in HD, can have a huge hit on your ratio, so I download those from trackers where it is easier to get this ratio back whenever possible.

    Where do you get
    TV Shows?
TvT It never failed me, I always found what I needed there.

    Where do you get
    Music?
What Be careful there: it is really hard to get any upload there are so many high-speed seeders on this tracker. SO build your ration by uploading stuff, then you can start to download, and then seed all your downloads for weeks.

    Where do you get
    Games?
BCG What would I go anywhere else? Great community and fantastic system to reward seeders.

    Where do you get Books
    ?
Myanonamouse Just started there. Seems like they have a great choice. Will try Bibliotik if I get an invite there.

    TL or revTT

    Do you use a seedbox?
I did when I started torrenting - only way to get a good ratio on Tier-1 trackers. Don't need it anymore now.

Trackers you don't use or wish you didn't apply to?
Plenty - all the open signup trackers usually don't last any longer than the first login.

    Other Thoughts

There are some great private trackers that are accessible - Bitsoup for example. Start there, you'll get almost the same content as on Tier-1, with great speeds. Proove you can be a valuable asset on these trackers and you'll be making your way up to higher level trackers in no time. Then stick with a few - easier to get a good ratio, and you have all you need.

I'm going to give this a go before I go pass out. :)

    Name
    Ela <3

    Connection Speed (down/up)
    ~30 mbps / 3mbps

How many Trackers do you use regularly?
10 to 15 at least once a week.

    MOVIES
PTP is 1st choice. Relatively easy to seed and bonus system is helpful for older torrents. I can find 95% of what I want here. TEH is a great compliment to PTP. Has a very good selection and tons of freeleech! PTN is good if I do not want to have to worry about ratio, but it does not have as wide a selection.
I am not an HD fiend, but when I do want something in HD I use PixelHD or Awesome-HD.They are both easy to seed and have good enough quality for me. :)
On a side note, I use The Horror Charnel for a lot of my horror specific content. <3

    TV SHOWS
BTN no questions. Fast speeds, ratioless, bonus system... The site is great, the community is great, the end. If I did not have BTN, Freshon.tv would be my choice as it is also a great tracker with tons of freeleech/half leech, and plenty of content.

    MUSIC

My music trackers are all more genre-specific. Metal.iPlay and JPopsuki for the most part. IPTorrents for newer albums. Would eventually like to join ShelLife as well.
What.cd and Waffles.fm are great and filled with content, but not easy enough to seed to be my "go-to" trackers.

    GAMES

BitGamer for new stuff, and Underground-Gamer for old stuff (same as everybody else lol) I play primarily on PC, and those work out splendidly.

    BOOKS
I read more fiction than true "elearning" and MyAnonamouse was holy grail for me. If I can't find it there, I usually check Demonoid. (hehe) Bibliotik is good for more obscure stuff, but so hard to seed. :( ComicBT for comic books 100%. All around great tracker.

    GENERAL

IPTorrents or TorrentDay. If you not a hard-core torrent user, these are really all you need. My husband is proof of this. I've been a member of Torrentday since before they went private and I love how easy it is to seed on this tracker. You don't even have to try. lol

    SCENE
SceneAccess of course, though I really love this tracker for the packs! You can build massive buffer off of their freeleech.

    NICHE
CartoonChaos - must have for cartoons due to obvious reasons. They don't have that many leechers, but freeleech torrents to help you out and staff is friendly.
BakaBT is my the greatest tracker for anime/manga/ost. Backup is AnimeByt.es, but only if I can't find it on BBT first.
AsiaTorrents is must have for Asian drama and movies and occasionally anime. They also have a whole section of just eng subs which is nice.
XtremeWrestlingTorrents for wrestling content due to super fast times and easy to seed. RAW usually pops on here before IPT which is nice.

    Do you use a seedbox?
Yes!!! If I did not have a seedbox I probably would not download from any trackers. I prefer large HDD over 1gbps speeds so I can just download what I want and seed forever. I don't use RSS or anything so I don't need that initial rush of speed.

Trackers you don't use or wish you didn't apply to?
Many that I check out during open signups are disheartening. FYT, Speed.cd and SeX are examples of trackers I don't use often simply because I can get everything they have elsewhere.

    Other Thoughts
I admit I like to have options as far as trackers go. I like to have backups, I like to have different communities to check out, and I like to be able to cross seed. For these reasons, I always like to have a few in each category. The only category I think lends itself to having only 1 tracker is "general". Try to stick with ratioless if you can seed for long times and have bad connection. Remember, most of the higher trackers are going to require a seedbox to keep your ratio decent.

My first "private" tracker, aside from demonoid, was BitSoup. I got in on open signup. And you know what? It was great. lol Start small, work your way up the ladder. Don't be in a rush. Take your time enjoying the trackers you have and you will build ratio before you know it.

I do believe I have rambled enough now - this post is ridiculously long. :)
