Default State your level of dedication to the cause!

Whats up to all the seed freaks and snatch master's? (haha guess that second one has two meanings )

I have been thinking about putting this topic up for a few days and haven't really figured out how I was going to word it, but tonight I figured I would just start typing and see where it went.

    What I mean is this...
Do you find yourself aimlessly searching your trackers for files you think should be seeded more and download them to seed them?

Do you spend hour's researching seedbox's to find out which one is best for your needs?

Spend time in your tracker's forums just to get your name out there to show people you care about the site?

Build relationship's with people on your tracker's and help them move up in class by snatching your/their uploads?

Freak out when you move seedbox's and some of your file's get corrupted in the transfer?

Spend hour's on this site finding unique things people have posted, or find secrets that exist on your trackers web page?

These are just a few things that I do, and I enjoy it a lot. A few months ago I made a life style change to get off drugs and alcohol and this torrenting hobby has been a great way to keep me out of trouble. I find things I can watch/listen to during periods of the day I'm worn out or going to bed. When I'm not at work and itching to do something I can search the forums on this site or my tracker's for something to talk about or research and keep my mind on positive things.

I can remember when I was 12 or 13 years old and kept my Kazaa client running 24/7 for a week straight at my dads house while I was at my Mom's for her week ( my parents were divorced with week on week off custody) and the reason I did that was not for ratio or to move up in class. It was so people could get the files that I enjoyed so much and felt other people should have the same opportunity to download them like I did! Needless to say that month apparently 250gigs had been uploaded from our household internet connection and my Dad got some outrageous bill (this was 12ish years ago unlimited wasnt where we were at)

Now I always got a seedbox going, seed as long as I can, and try to gain more knowledge and techniques of file sharing/torrenting and just technology in general. I wouldint have learned so much about computer's and how they work or operating systems if I hadnt become part of some tracker's

Anyway, maybe you could share a funny story or something you gained from TI or a tracker? Maybe what you feel your dedication to the cause is?

I just like a challenge and learning. You might lose some hair along the way but boy is it good when u've figured something out. BT was like that from the start when I discovered I could download episodes of the Enterprise 6 months before it was shown in my country.., but what was this wierd thing called bittorrent? It just sort of snowballed from there.

Its nice to join a site with a community, but that isn't necessary.., its the learning I love.

I am a bit of a bandwidth obsessive as well, and I understand your altruistic motivations a little too well. What got me into torrenting was obviously wanting files for my personal enjoyment, but as time went on I allowed it to become somewhat of a hobby of its own as well, and through my own research I found out about the private tracker scene, and that's more or less why I'm here.

The private tracker community has amazed me in two quite different ways. The first is two-fold: the level of speed and quality that a slightly gated community provides. Piracy is all over the news because in essence it's so simple. Pretty much anyone can find that new movie or top 40 album online, but they might have to wait, and they have very little assurance as to quality or authenticity. The second point is the vastness of content that is available. It feels like nearly anything that can be found online and it's thrilling to be a part of some sort of scene that allows this to happen. This is where I really feel for you, bandwith... there's this terrible and unique twinge of guilt I get when I'm the last seeder, even if the file is rare and obscure.

It's pretty awesome to hear that you've turned filesharing into an active hobby, as well. I'd agree it's better than drugs~ (which are fine in moderation, but can cause problems like anything else).

If I have the buffer I'm ready to snatch torrents for anyone who asks me on IRC, they don't need to be my friends. I help whenever I can without expecting anything in return. I think it's always better to help those users who have difficulties rather than let them get banned and potentially become cheaters in the future.

If a tracker has a list of torrents having few seeders I tend to grab them and I also help reseeding dead torrents, because I expect others to do so too. Keeping torrents alive is a tough job, especially on trackers with no seed bonus system.

When you have a lot of trackers you can't be active on all of their forums, in fact, T-I has to large extent filled my community needs, though I'm still posting in some forums of trackers that I enjoy a lot. This has become a hobby of mine you could say, and I find myself way too often spending too much time here and on trackers when I should be doing something more important.

Last but not least, I must say that I go totally nuts about numbers and they addict me. I seem always to have a "need" to boost my ratio, buffer and upload stats as if I was playing a strategy game, even when my stats are just fine and I even might have enough buffer for the next few years. Honestly I might need a good break from torrenting for a while, could just park my accounts for that reason.

Ever since the beginning it hasn't been for me. What I mean is I didn't try to get on multiple trackers so I could download movies and shi...stuff. I for the most part try and see how I can help the other users here or the trackers I'm active at. Idk I guess like many torrenters here I enjoy helping out other people more than I like just keeping stuff to myself. I'll be honest, I could live without the trackers. I don't have too many problems financially so I could afford to buy all the crap that I actually download, but I'm really in it more for the community side of things. As mate88 noted above this has become more of a strategy game. Knowing what to download, what not to download, building up bonus at trackers rapidly, Having a large buffer granted I will never download as much as I've uploaded no matter how hard I try; it's all part of it. Because I can easily live without them I try to help the people who can't or the people who would never have access to such content. I guess since I'm so busy most of the time I tried to seek out a community where I could fit into. I like this place and I will try to help out users however I can. Torrenting has become a hobby. I don't dream of any trackers nor do I see them as a necessity I just see them as the reason why I've met so many great people hence why I keep my accounts alive as best as I can. Along the way I've met many other good friends at other tracker forums so not a bad deal

I like the technology of this game.
I like the fact its not entirely legal.
I like getting the latest movies/games/tv/publications/software free, in good quality, and quickly.
I like the multi cultural aspect of this community.
I like the multi national aspect of this community.
    It makes me laugh.
    It winds me up.
I've never got nothing to do when at home - I do not understand 'boredom' anymore, instead I have 'not enough hours in the day'.
I like the idea that there is still so much more to discover about this world of ours, and that its also evolving so quickly, like its organic.
I like the idea that money doesn't really give you a big advantage here.
It feels like we're really part of something exciting and cutting edge.
    Yeah I like it.

haha thats funny that a lot of you have mentioned it can be like a strategy game. I was thinking about that lastnight, its like playing a facebook game lol. Its funny though a lot of website's are like "download what you like and just seed" hah naw its not gonna work like that to build ratio!
