Thread: uTorrent 2.0.4 or 2.2.1. Which do you prefer?

I deliberately left out older versions because other than providing a tinfoil hate, they have bugs in them that were fixed in later versions.
The more recent versions suck too. So much feature creep.



Personally I use 2.2.1 but I think I may downgrade to 2.0.4 because I can't stand the apps shit.

I use 2.04 because 2.2.1 is not allowed on BitMeTV.

I'm using 2.2.1 but I don't see any apps shit . Or maybe I just haven't found it yet, so not bothering me at least.

Try pressing F7, mate88. Sometimes they're hidden.

Does BitmeTV say why you can't use 2.2.1, Mars7?

I use 2.2.1. Before I was using 2.0.4 but I had so many problems with disk overload and changed it.

beerai, when I try to download with 2.2.1 there is an error "Failure: Your client is not on the allowed clients list".

2.0.4 without question. 2.2.1 and upwards have some weird problems with disc caching causing a "tradeoff" between limited speeds and overloading on slightly slower or even faster HDDs, which in end results in the same - limited speed (talking here about 100 mbit line and up).

I already wrote, it's a tradeoff, meaning I have already considered this option (btw, it is what I am using on version 2.0.4). It does not work well for slower HDD like the green ones with v2.2.1.

2.2.1 and above are plain broken in that regard, if you don't have a fast enough HDD, which in turn implies that 2.2.1 and above pose stronger requirements on the hardware (HDDs) than 2.0.4. It is sad that there isn't anything like Transmission or, more generally, libtorrent for Windows, as these easily achieve great speeds even from slower HDDs. The Windows port of Deluge is sort of an attempt for this, but it has plenty of other bugs and lack of some features like skipping hash check, which makes is unusuable for any serious torrenting.
