I'm glad I found this thread! I have also given up hope of ever becoming a member at HDBits.org.
I think HDbits.ro is pretty good and has a good selection of 1080p/720p torrents. Unfortunately many of these are not well seeded and can take a while to download!
I will strive to become a member at bit-hdtv now. I have heard good things about it recently!

So I'm now a member of SceneHD and bit-HDTV and I must say I'm very pleased. I find myself using bit-HDTV a lot more though....
