That being said, I'm not doing much torrenting without a seedbox anymore and get the files via SFTP.

I don't think the ISP are really the loophole. They don't gain much by monitoring their customers traffic, however, some of them are more willing than others to give out your user info is necessary.

I'm not overly paranoid so I'm not using a proxy or tunnel nor do I add any other additional layers of security.
I was giving the hyper paranoid list. That's why I marked all but 1 or 2 of them as "This will probably never happen"
ISP's for the most part wont, but I just heard about some of them agreeing to new stuff in the US.
A VPN / Seedbox is enough to probably stop 99.99% of copright lawsuits, so I think it's a good idea because it's fairly cheap.

You make valid points OP. I agree with your sentiments about how Megaupload was taken down unjustly using SOPA, without it even being passed yet. Our Government is cracking down on everything and it's controlled by the corporations that caused our economy to collapse back in 2008 (The Inside Job).
I think we are in dire times and every day we become more and more dependent on people like Anonymous and companies that stand up against SOPA, thanks Wikipedia.

The main thing about this is we can't be silent and let this happen, take a look at the NDAA for example (Google It) It was snuck in without anyone having a say about it. Now we have military rule, the constitutional rights are gone and have been long gone for some time. Going back to the Patriot Act, and even before then. We must be vocal, we must be strong, we must be united. These are dangerous times, and they are taking the battlefield to our beloved internet.

There's always a risk, but it's one I'm willing to take.
