Default combining multiple torrents / same torrent but different filenames

This has probably been discussed before but I didn't find anything probably because I was using wrong keywords...

I'm finding that the same torrent exists on multiple different trackers but I have to keep duplicate sets of files or make a bunch of soft links to seed them on both because the file names are different. Does anybody know of a way to make rtorrent (or any other torrent client) recognize files by just hash (for example) instead of filenames?

I realize that if I was using btrfs, the files would not use up more space but I'm not currently doing that... Further, the client still downloads another copy or you have to make the copies yourself. Any suggestions / ideas?

EDIT: Somebody asked, how do you create softlinks? Answer:
    man ln

I'm not quite sure if this should work.....but have you tried the suggestions in how to cross-seed properly by not starting the 2nd torrent and pointing/saving it to the same file and right click and force recheck?

Just wana make sure the normal method doesn't work first..

You could also try using deluge, I've found that you can change torrent file/folder names from deluge itself, recheck and get it seed. It would get complicated if its multiple filenames though. Getting it to recognize similar files with different filenames would be pretty cool though.

I cross seed frequently without problems if the file names are the same. But if the file names are different, you have to create duplicate files or softlinks with the appropriate names. I don't think deluge behaves any differently because I have used it in the past too.

Well I personally have done it with deluge dozens of times seeding tv shows i have to two different sites which have different folder/filename standards without having to duplicate or softlink. I also use it to rename folders in order to maintain my own folder structure while keeping the torrents seeding, so i know it without a doubt it works. Its pretty simple all you do is double click (/F2) the file/folder name in the deluge files tab and change it to whatever you want. I'm using deluge 1.3.3 with the thin client though, not the webui.
