Thread: Basic HTTPS Question

I am trying to figure out what exactly my ISP can see when I navigate to my Seedbox through HTTPS and download a file.

So, say for example, I go to HTTPS://myserver, go to the BTN folder and download "Sons.of.AnarchyS01E1.mkv". Will my ISP see the name of the MKV file or will it be encrypted?

Lately, If I am using HTTPS, I have been rar'ing the files through rutorrent and giving the rar file an obscure name, just in case they can see the file name.

HTTPS should encrypt the entire session. I'm pretty sure a listener shouldn't be able to decrypt the traffic unless they have access to both your key and the server key. In any case, I don't think your ISP would monitor your traffic. There are far too many transactions and far too many users to monitor everyone and make sense of the data.

If you really want to be sure, you can download a packet sniffing program like wireshark and see if the filename is in any of the packets.
