I never use public trackers anymore. I can always find what I'm looking for in private trackers.
Don't use them anymore, way too risky. Especially since I'm from Germany where the chance of getting busted when downloading from i.e. piratebay is like 90% if you use it without any proxy or vpn...
PirateBay and Isohunt are not trackers. They only index public torrents.
Anyhow, downloading torrents found on TPB (= torrents from open trackers) is freaking dangerous.
Open tracker = private tracker that is currently for OPEN sign up
Public tracker = public tracker which everybody can use without reg
I was quite confused by the title and I was expecting something totally different.
I also try not to use trackers that are often open for sign up. This is probably because of security reason.

If you need help feel free to PM me, but keep in mind that asking for an invite is not considered help.
I use if in the private don't appear the movie or games , i use isohunt !
I use public trackers sparingly. I tend to find some ebooks and audiobooks on Demonoid that aren't elsewhere. But as soon as I am done downloading, i stop seeding on public trackers. The less exposure the better.
For me, the main reasons for using private trackers are better speeds, and better content (quality). Security isn't that big a concern. It will be ages before anyone from my country is sued/prosecuted for file sharing, therefore its not really something I worry about. My issue with public trackers is the risk with the files themselves (viruses etc) and occasional crappy speeds. However I do use them when I'm looking for something I can't find on the private trackers. As for which ones I use, well I prefer using indexers like BTJunkie as opposed to trackers themselves since it's a lot easier to search, and I usually find what I need.

Magister made a valid observation about open/public trackers and their differences, but in this case i'm sure that the OP was referring to public trackers (ie. torrent indexers/search engines)...
anyways, i admit using public trackers up to last month or so. at that point i was content with the trackers i had so there was no reason for me to go backwards, knowing the faults of public trackers.
