Default When have you seeded enough?

I raise this question for those of us who have too relinquish torrents due to HDD capacity. In my case I have gotten close to the maximum capacity of my HDD on my seedbox and I was faced with having to free up some space. I deleted torrents that I have shared well above 1.00 and weren't currently being downloaded.

So again, when do you guys stop seeding?

I generally seed it as long as I can unless it's something I know isn't gonna get me very much more buffer. ON BTN for example, I'll download a show and by the end of the night it's got like 200 seeders. A lot of those users have a dedicated seedbox or much more space than I do, so I clean it off my drive. I'll seed things that have very few seeders for a long time though.

I don't worry about my ratio anymore in my well used trackers that I've been a member of for a while, once I've got a 1TB buffer I just keep it around that and watch my ratio slowly dwindle.

I'm not into HnR'ing, just give the opportunity to others now as I don't need the upload anymore. On new tracker I am a bit of a ratio whore until I hit that buffer though.

I tend to seed the minimum on single episodes and packs now as I usually get close to my ratio back on them, TV packs get seeded long term to keep them alive.

i usually let torrents go for as long as i can keep them. but then again i work on a laptop so clearing space for torrents is usually why i no longer seed

I don't have much space a my PC hard drive anymore, so I usually stick with the 72 hours rule. After 3 days, 90 percent of trackers are fine with you deleting torrents.

Good rule of thumb, I wasn't aware of that. I just don't want too be accused of a HitnRun, but I think if you seed at least 100% of what you downloaded then it wouldn't be considered a hit'n'run right?

Yeah, most trackers are fine with 1:1, if you d/l a 2GB file just make sure you seed at least 2GB back and you'll be fine. A lot of my torrents that I download are from good trackers, which have too many seeders, so I really cant upload anything back, unless I jump on it as soon it comes out. That why I said just seed for at least 72 hours if ever in doubt. I made a list of all my trackers and the ratio rules from each of them, so If I ever forget a trackers ratio rules I can easily pull it up.

Most trackers would be fine with 1:1. And many to most would also be happy with 3 days in the alternative. It does vary from tracker to tracker, so best to read each trackers FAQ. Ratioless trackers may expect you to seed longer e.g. 120 hours for a BTN season pack.

I like to long term seed, both on principle and because it generates bonus points at a lot of trackers. So my average is probably about 60 days. If I was running out of space, I suppose that I might seed just to the minimum requirement for a while. Like droidlover, I've made a summary sheet of the requirements for my trackers.

On my desktop, for things I keep - Indefinitely.

Ie. Tv Shows I archive, albums I add to my library.

Otherwise I download, watch, seed to minimum times and delete.
