Thread: Usenet vs. Private Tracker?

My friend told me that he is using usenet to download movies. Usenet has fast downloadspeed and wild choise range. Is that true? What is better to download movies?

I also would like to know this, is it p2p that supplies the Usenet or vice versa.
Or is it that they both have there own.
A few IT wizard at the work say that Usenet is the daddy, but I'm not to sure..

its my understanding that most things for downlaod online start on usenet and then they make it to torrent sites shortly after.

the problem with usenet is access. My ISP restricts big usenet posts so I would have to pay for the access. I think P2P is easier to search and find what you want. Usenet you have to keep track of the posts and make sure none are incomplete. Utorrent does that automatically for you

the whole philosophy is to have something that is free and open
and i don't see any of that in usenet!.
besides in torrents there's the need to contribute also in order to have a good ratio
in good trackers (though that's not always the case).
usenet may have the speed but torrent has everything else
