Thread: 1080p or 720p MKV Releases - Which One?

I tried to search the forums and couldn't find a definitive answer, but I was wondering (file sizes aside), do most of you tend to download 1080p or 720p releases of movies. I am wondering if there is a noticeable difference to justify grabbing one over the other or why grab one over the other. I just wanted to put it to a vote.

it depends on the TV...you will see a huge difference from a 55-inch TV to compare with 40-inch or less.

It definitely depends on the screen you are using, the bigger the screen the higher the resolution required to maintain a crystal clear quality for me which is no1 priority.

When i wish to watch a movies on my laptop i would prefer a 720p and when its family time i would definitely prefer 1080p on my 52" tv. so in a way it really is subjected to your needs...at the time

But even on a larger TV, would the differences be that noticable?

yes definitely...a full hd 1080p screen would definitely show ....when you play 720p and 1080p movies...

uh mkv releases? That has nothing to do with tv size, it depends on whether your computer can play it or not, tell me how your gonna play an mkv file with a TV and then we can argue which one looks better.

I go for 720P through XBMC to a 42in LCD can't beat it!

My LED Support 1080p Resolution But Mostly I Download & Watch 720p Movies But If Movie Is Good Rated Or Classic Then I Watch It In 1080p :P
