    Default Ebook - file types

I am new to the world of eBooks, but own an iPad. I have read a couple of PDF books on the iPad, but as you might expect, they don't have the same "feel" as the native books from Apple. I was curious on what formats people like the best? What works on iPad versus Kindle versus Nook.

DOC, TXT, LIT, HTML, chm, PDF, pdb, djvu, lrf, RTF, PRC, JPEG, MOBI, EPUB

Also, it looks like MyAnonamouse is the best tracker for this content. Any others?

Thank you in advance for the help!

I like the EPUB formatted books on the iPad I think they are much better than a pdf.

I just use general trackers for my books right now.

EPUB and MOBI work best on those new e-reader type of devices. I'm not sure if they can read the comic book files. (.cbr)

ebookvortex, I think Waffles has some ebooks, digitalhive, etc. And that one tracker that causes everyone to get letters because it's not really private and isn't worth mentioning the name.

I'm not sure if it would help, but you can convert PDF and other formats to MOBI and probably other formats using a program called Calibre. I use it to convert things to a form my kindle can use and it works well with me. It's also nice because if it's a pdf you downloaded off some random site with no metadata attached to it, it'll attach all the metadata and cover automatically if you have the ISBN.

I use calibre personally for my kobo touch, works great for conversion and will download news and online mags (e.g. Wired, Ars Technica) and convert it to whatever format you choose with table of contents

online-convert.com has been recommended on T-I before but Ive never used it

I use epub. If you need to convert files Calibre is the best program. My favorite e-reader program is Bluefire. It has a nice wireless transfer feature.

If it's got images I need to see, I use .pdf. Has the widest support.

If it's just text (like a novel) I'll typically use .epub. Small file size and fast to manipulate (larger pdf's tend to bog down my smartphone when viewing). I don't need fancy formatting like in a pdf when just reading text

I have an android smartphone. Easypdf for reading pdf's. Aldiko for reading epub.
