    Default 49M/73M speeds? For real?

I was cruising an invite forum and I saw speed tests which make no sense to me, but maybe it's because I'm US-centric.

Some guy in Romania is getting 49Mbps down and 73Mbps up? Is that for real? I never heard of an asynchronous connection that favored the upstream pipe.

    Shopped or for real?

Never heard of that either, if its real that wuld be pretty odd, however it could be simply because the download is higher but a download was running when he ran the speed test. that's skewed a few of my speed tests.

In Romania, 100mbps up/down connection is popular, and the price is very cheap.

I can get Optimum Ultra, which will give me 100Mbps down/30Mbps up, but it's expensive. I have Optimum Boost which is 30/5, and not expensive at all.

my home connection used to be that for over 3 years, i can get more than 60mbps upload speed and 10mbps download speed
this is caused by the fact that 10 more people and me shared a 100m connection and the isp only limits our dl speed but for up speed, there is no limitation
but for speedtest result, i never get things like that

Maybe he's just having better upload connection to the server than download.

Some providers that throttle connections lead to ridiculously favored upload speeds. The reason is because they use QoS to only give the "full" download speed to approved sites, like educational/etc. For example, see a speedtest I did at college a while ago:
