Don't you guys think that it is very easy to just copy paste others ratioproof with slight editing by paint or photoshop...

like anyone can show anyone's proof....and there are alot of proofs here at this site.....so alot of cheating can happen very easily...




just give it a thought....

There will always be cheaters, but they will always be caught

well i tried it out myself just now using my own screenshot and paintbrush,
and i must say that it is remarkably easy to cheat a screenie or get real close to getting away with it on the first look
as anyone can make a close to 95% Fake with a little ingenuity and dexterity


but then if an inviter asks you for your tracker profile id to match your stats, you are really in a hot soup then
IMO its not worth risking a ban and your reputation just for getting an invite to an "oh-So-L33T" tracker,

once you start cheating, its hard to stop, you'll get sloppy along the way and get caught
not to mention that when someone gets caught in a forum cheating he normally gets banned in the "Oh-so-L33T" trackers too

My top Tips for catching a Fake Screenie
1)Check the URL bar for any discrepancies, change in font etc etc
2)Check the taskbar for the "Windows Time", if you've asked for more than one screenie, one shouldn't be at more than 10 minutes interval of the other
3)OS version , many stupid fakers are cross platform and post screenies from XP and Windows 7 on the same giveaway
4)ask the applicant for profile links for verification

let the user do a torrent search for a specific phrase from you. then use the result page as the canvas. why? well, the URL will be unique and "harder" to fake. >>>SAMPLE<<<
and for gods sake, don't accept proofs that aren't full screen. even a child can cut someone's stats out of other proofs and present them as theirs.


but if you are afraid of ratio proofs, then just ask for profile links.

Agreed with this, actually. THat's why people need to take an extra precaution in inviting people in highly respected trackers. I'm a bit more lenient when it comes to easy-to-get-in trackers, but the user has the responsibility to do some additional research and what not. If anything looks suspicious, you'd have to request for additional requirements just to be sure.

Profile links is a good safety measure, but sometimes that also puts the invitee at risk.

i think it's more easy to trust a guy who have made a lot of GAs or receive much rep here
also a guy who has registered here for a long time and has 100+ posts is also more trustful
because in my opinion, if he is a cheater, he should have been catched before he can get things i mentioned above

The ratio proof is just the beginning screening factor. Like everyone else said, in the end the profile link will be the real proof. Then you can compare what the screenshot shows to catch any photoshops. Thing is you have to have an account to the tracker you're given a profile link to. Of course you could always ask around the site for some help with that.

A good proof to me (not a screenshot) is one where the account is old, (the join date is old). And the ratio is like 3.0 with a lot of data moved, not 14.0 because they downloaded 5 GB and uploaded 70 GB.

Not necessarily. A lot of users who are 99%, posted a lot, or have given a lot of invites have been banned for cheating and such. Some people might have given all invites to demonoid, and has an iGiver of two digits vs. someone who has given a single digit invite to trackers like TL, Waffles, BitMe, etc. So it doesn't really reflect much. Just be careful if that's how you measure trust.
