Default Predictions on the Future of the Torrent World?

    What do you guys think?

With increased MPAA, RIAA, and "intellectual property" interests affecting governments world wide, do you see that in the future all public trackers will eventually be shut down? Do you see everyone having to own a ssedbox or pay for a VPN service? Do you see the torrent protocol being replaced all together, giving rise to an inherently more secure and anonymous type of mass peer to peer file transfer protocol?

    What are your thoughts?

Even if public trackers were shut down, we still have our private trackers. Not everyone will have to pay for a seedbox/VPN. It will probably take a while before trackers are shut down because government policies against these sites are considered by some as censorship, and I people do not want that.

I would love to have a more secure/anonymous file sharing protocol though.

I don't think there's much to be scared of. There are always ways to go around it. The agencies have been chasing torrent sites for years, and more just keep popping up. When worst comes to worse, I'm fairly sure there's somebody out there that's coming up with something else much more innovative and much more secure filesharing.

The world of file sharing will develop and change but it is impossible to stop. For every counter measure that is developed, a counter counter measure will pop up.

I don't know how many of you have been following the super injunction story in the UK, but it shows a parallel, instead of file sharing, it is information sharing, and demonstrates the internet is impossible to supress. Now there is talk of prosecuting 73,000 twitter users who mentioned the name of Ryan Giggs in reference to the super injunction. It led to farsical situation where everyone knew the name, but the traditional media, papers, TV, Radio, were still not allowed to publish it. A deadlock that was broken yesterday when a politician, used parliamentary privilege (a law in the uk that says MP's can say what ever they like in parliament without fear of prosecution), to name Ryan Giggs. Parliamentary privilege, extends to the media being able to report everything that is said in parliament.

The prosecutions will not happen, but, in theory at least, (maximum sentence for contempt is 2 years), if they did the UK could nearly double it's prison population, by prosecuting law abiding members of the public for gossiping about a footballer's indiscretions.

The point being, no matter how you try, or what laws are in place, it is impossible to censor the internet.

I think that torrenting will never die ( maybe a protocol change in the future...)

About the seedbox i think that maybe the future is not promissing...everyday the ISP prices are decreasing...
I know that are some shaping the traffic etc...but maybe will be a differential in the future do not do this etc
    Thnx for Rellik and Forbidden
    Two good souls !
