Default Peer Guardian.....useful or waste of time!

Peer Guardian, is this useful for blocking the authorities, or is it a waste of time hence private trackers.

    Hmm, good question.

Probably not that many 'authorities' watching the private trackers. But I still keep it running though, just to be on the safe side. :3

From what I have gathered, the downsides outnumber the positive aspects of the application. First there is the problem of the companies changing IP-address, which makes the current list at any time untrustworthy. Secondly, the blocked IP-addresses lead to other sites as well as the companies, so you will have a hard time browsing the Interent while under the protection of PeerGuardian.

I have thought of using it a few times, but I never got around to actually do it, so these are not my own experiences with the application. The best method to avoid prying eyes that I know if, is to stay away from public torrent sites, as Aeryn said.

I think it's ineffective, if they wanna get you they will get you Peer Guardian or not. Also, it doesn't work with Vista 64.

Like others have said, makes people feel safe. The down side is they just block large chunks of addys. Some of which could be connections that you could use. Safest way would be to use seedbox.

I never had problems with such things, still, I believe that the threat is out there and so I use a couple of programs such as the one you mentioned. However I'm not an expert and, therefore cannot say to you that peerguardian is good or bad.
