Default Seeding the same content to multiple trackers

I know that including multiple trackers on one torrent is a huge no-no and is detectable and basically ban bait, but I am a little confused on the specifics of this rule.

    1) If you have the same files but in separate torrents (as in you don't add the trackers of the second onto the first but have two different torrents in your client both accessing the same files), is this still breaking the rule?

    2) If no to the above, then if you duplicate the files and move them to a different folder and have a separate torrent would this still be breaking the rule? For example, if you have a movie in folder C:\Folder1\movie.avi and you duplicate it and move the duplicated file to a new folder, say C:\Folder2\movie.avi and have two torrents in your client, one accessing the file in Folder1 and seeding to one tracker and one accessing the file in folder2 and seeding to a different tracker. In this way it would be the same content but not technically accessing the same files. Is this still breaking the rule?

    Thanks in advance.

The first one should be alright. That's what I do.

Both are correct. It's called cross-seeding, and I can't think of a tracker that bans this...

    yeah, it's called cross-seeding.
no, you don't have to make copies for every torrent. it's just waste of your hdd space.
no, you won't get banned IF YOU DO IT CORRECTLY.

i usually cross-seed tv shows to 5-6 different trackers

Just to clarify, you can seed the same content to different trackers AT THE SAME TIME as long as you use separate torrents in your torrent client?

Yes that's it. Just use separate torrents and you will be fine.

Yes. IMAGINE says you have to be careful, but I have done this since forever, and not only do they (I think) willingly allow it, they encourage it.

@IMAGINE: Did you get caught for doing this or something? I'm just wondering, because I thought it was generally acceptable to cross-seed. (I think I have seen it in some tracker wikis.

Edit: Sam, do you have a license to be going that fast?

@Bandersnatch. by "DOING IT CORRECTLY" i meant that never-ever-never-never-ever add trackers to the same torrent.

by the way, it is totally normal for the "scan" to stop at 99% or close to that. just download the missing kB's and your ready to be added to the seeders list.

by the way (x2), if you cross-seed to a tracker that gives bonus for snatches (much like Waffles), i suggest you don't download the smallest file. just do the force re-check thingy, start the torrent and then download the missing piece.

I've noticed sometimes uTorrent borks when seeding two torrents from the same set of files, stopping the upload claiming it misses files (while a recheck reaffirms 100% available). Likely has to do with utorrent trying to double-lock files.

Hence, I always make a copy of files I'm cross-seeding. This also enables you to rename files for trackers requiring specific naming conventions.

To fix this, go to the files tab and highlight them all, and click relocate, and find the folder they are in. If each one is a different name, you can click each individually, and relocate to the various files, as long as you are sure they are exactly the same, just differently named.

Also, sometimes it stops those uploads when you haven't forced a re-check, and have instead started seeding it. If there is an error, you'll be sending that error to other people, and the tracker can see it. They might take disciplinary action, though it's highly unlikely.
