Default DHT is a ratio killer!

Hi guys, In the beginning I had problems with my ratio in private trackers, and this was the answer.

DHT means "Distribute Hash Table" DHT is good for public trackers like Min*nova and Pirateb** (well u know), well DHt is an addition to certain torrent client that allows them to work without a tracker, wich means that ur client will be able to find peers even if the track is down. This means that our ratios won't get updated if we enable DHT so...
For private trackers we must have DHT disable when making, seeding or daownloading tracks!

I haven't tried more than this clients, but I know how to disable in:

Azureus Client > Tools > Options > Plugging > distributed HT

utorrent > options > preferences > Bittorrent

If u want u can have two clients, one for privates trackers (DHT disable) and other one for publics ones (DHT enabled), just try to use different ports for each one.

The two different clients idea is very good. Downloads can really be inhibited on public trackers without DHT

The torrent file itself includes a flag that specifies whether DHT should be allowed or not and almost all private trackers use it to disable DHT for their torrents automatically.
If you use a piece-of-s**t client that doesn't respect that flag, it's your problem.

As I understand if the site counts ratio and u activate DHT, everything you upload to peers that does not go through the tracker won't be counted, resulting in bad ratio.

My own experience:
When I turned on DHT on my utorrent, my downloads kb were checked, but not the kb I was seeding, no matter how much time I shared, in other words, with DHT enabled, only my download kbs were checked and my ratio falls down... but when I disabled DHT everything happend normally, both were checked.

If you will have DHT turned on not all kb you are uploading will be counted on the private tracker as you will be uploading also to people outside of the tracker and thats why it is better to turn it off.

Turning DHT doesn't mean that.. private trackers usually have flags that disable that.. If you look under the "trackers" tab you'll usually see DHT now allowed if the torrent is from a private tracker. No need to turn off DHT.

Unless your client is buggy and enables DHT anyway...

most private trackers ban you if you have DHT enabled anyway.

That's strange, I have had it enabled for 3 years on private & private trackers & never had any problems.
