Ehh..that is an alright price. I own two of these and I must say that in my experience, it is overall the best hard drive I have ever owned. If you don't mind a 15 second delay in accessing your data (low power standby), give it a shot.

Space is my main problem. Ever since I started getting everything I have in flac and mkv and iso and deleting the old crap, I seem to run out of space faster than faster than Thanksgiving turkey disappears off people's plates.

if you wait a little bit, the price will drop to 99.99 for one of these. dont count on getting a rebate if they offer one. i know of people who have been waiting for their 20 dollare rebate for 3 years now. i do highly suggest these hard drives though. absolutely love the two 2 TB ones that i own.

I am checking this out. It seems great. Is there any way to disable the power saving mode thing?

no. thats the reason it is called the green drive. aluminum casing with low power stand by and it makes for a great energy saver. i have both hooked up to my wd media players in the bedroom and living room, unless you are impatient, it wont be a big deal. once you have the drive running, it doesnt go into standby as long as you use it every 10-15 minutes or so.

Whew, that's a relief, I didn't really want a 10 - 15 second load time added on. I want to let the OP know that I am buying this.
