Well, apparently Walmart is trying to move their stock to make room for the anticipated iphone 4.

If your in the market for one its a pretty killer deal. It says that the phone price is based on new line activation or eligible upgrade with 2-year contract.

This sounds great! How much does it cost without contract?

I got my iPhone (16GB 3GS) for 99 around Black Friday from ATT.com. If your thinking about getting an iPhone and don't mind not getting the newest model I would snatch this up in a second.

If you don't mind spending 200 bucks and don't mind waiting for the next model though, I would wait.

Also without a contract it's something like 600 bucks. Your better off trying to buy one off of eBay or Craigslist next month when the new ones are released and everyone is trying to get rid of the older models.

I agree, the new one will be made official within a few weeks, i believe. Also, there are a lot of rumors about ATT losing its exclusivity to the iphone...talks of sprint getting it arose today and the verizon rumors have been around for awhile.

Personally I'm happy with ATT where I live, but I'd like to see it opened to other carriers so people could choose what carrier they want on the phone. It's a great phone, especially when jailbroken. There's nothing I can't do on it that I want to, and mostly for free.

I saw this article on either Lifehacker's or Gizmodo's front page. This is a very evident sign that the iPhone 4 is coming full steam, isn't it? I would love to get one, but my parents still think I can't handle a Trac-Phone. 16 and no phone.

I wouldn't say terrible.

Sure your stuck with an older model come next month, If your looking for a phone, don't mind ATT's service, and want to save 100 bucks off the price go for it. When apple releases a new iPhone next year then you can upgrade that one and sign a new two year deal and get that for 200 bucks.

Every year they release a new iPhone. Once you have had your phone a full year you can trade it in for a newer model as long as you sign that new two year contract.

The phones usually last two models before they start releasing things that aren't compatible with the older phones, but again it's not like the phone isn't going to work. It's still an iPhone, and it's still awesome.

Personally I'll probably be upgrading my 3GS next year when the newer model comes out, as long as there's something in it that I think I'll need, or my phone breaks by then.
