Default Make Foobar2000 interface more like iTunes

If your like me and you really hate iTunes (for whatever reason) but find that the foobar interface is less surperior then this tutorial is for you

    Make Foobar2000 Look Like iTunes

Its a tutorial to make foobar2000 with a more advanced interface and adds a search bar similar to the one in itunes (which is the only reason i used to use that dreadful program).

It is a step by step guide and is easy to follow but the advantages are high because foobar200o uses alot less cpu than most other media player apps and of course it plays flac files. Foobar is really easy to customise and antone fed up with iTunes or similar should give it a go

I also recently switched to using Foobar2000 because I was having issues with my existing media player apparently editing the tags on my music without my input (and I dislike WMP and itunes even more). The guide above is great for those who would like to spruce up this player.

I would also point people to the following place to find additional skins/layouts etc for Foobar2000 (note that a lot of these use the same components as in the guide above):

    Most Popular Foobar2000 Skins - Customize.org

You can also find more at places like deviantart and other similar websites. Remember to check for any version restrictions for skins-some might not work on the latest version of Foobar. And of course read the instructions for each skin carefully-they can get pretty involved as you can see in the guide from the first post :)

I really like foobar because of its DSP's and just how it sounds with my headphones. I just wish they would make a x64 version and make it skinnable /:

Its skinable now, theres loads of skins you can download for it and you can customise it yourself. Thats the best thing bout foobar that you can customise it yourself so just learn what everything does (mainly columns UI) and you will be able to custom your own skin in no time at all

Foobar is in my opinion the best audio player for Windows. I used to be a huge fan of Winamp until it got bought out by AOL and the quality of the releases went steadily downhill.

Overall I think that the best audio app is Amarok for Linux, it uses a SQL database instead of XML and is quick and automatically updates your library with new songs placed into your monitored directory.

Fortunately, most of these features are available in Foobar. Although I am not sure what kind of database Foobar creates, it is a million times faster and more flexible that iTunes. It handled my 300+GB of MP3s/FLACs with no problem.

One of the other things that makes Foobar a killer app for me is the built in FLAC support. Althought there are a handful of players out there that can handle FLACs, and plugins for the rest, I can't think of a program that right out of the box does everything as beautifully as Foobar.

Bogtog, just thinking about how strange it is that you posted this article. I google and find this very same article everytime my machine crashes and I need to reload Foobar :P

On a related note, has anyone found any good lyric plugins for the latest release of Foobar? LyricShow2 seems to crash all the time, LyricsDB doesn't seem to be compatible, and the interface of MiniLyrics makes Baby Jesus cry.
