    Default MKV To Xbox 360 WMV-HD Tutorial

    MKV To Xbox 360 WMV-HD Tutorial..
    CCCP 2009-09-09 (freeware)
    or
    http://rapidshare.com/files/143121402/Xbox_360_HD.rar

    1) The first thing to do is to make sure you have NO other codecs installed on the host machine..This is imperative as the CccP codec pack will NOT work proper..

    A) Download & install the Pack ive uploaded & follow the instructions below..You must have MP11 installed & working already as this hasnt been included..

    2) UnRAR my upload & install the programs in the manner laid out below..

    B) Install Avisynth v2.57 default..
    C) Install CccP 2008 making sure you check both boxes at the end of the install..(see pic) & make sure FFDShow audio settings is the same as the pic..

    D) Install Mp Encoder 11 default
    E) Install Media Info v0.7.7.4 default
    F) Copy the program WMNicEnc.exe to somewhere..(This is the program for encoding)
    G) Restart your PC so that all the codecs are fully loaded..

    ================================================== ========================

    3) Start up the encoding program ( WMNicEnc.exe) & make sure everything is the same as the picutre below..

    4) Click advanced options on the top right of the program & do what it says in the picture below..

    5) Now we will go through the making of the AVS file that is loaded up into the encoder program..This tells AVISynth were the original MKV file resides..

    ================================================== =====================
    Right click & open the Xbox 360.AVS file with NOTEPAD & adjust the line to point to where your file
    is..Keep it simple like I have done so there is less chance of making a mistake..

    ================================================== =====================

    6) Make sure your new AVS file is in the same place as the encoder program..

    7) To load your AVS file click were the arrow is & point it to the AVS file..If this has been done correct the next line down will fill automaticaly for you..You can ajust this to save were ever you wish..You can also rename it to the name of your film & save it..(Xbox 360,wmv to X-men.wmv)

    8) Click encode & wait for it to finish..

    Extra info: Your WMV-HD file will always end up being much bigger than the original MKV file as the X264 codec compresses to a much smaller file..Us the USE VBR (95%) to ajust...

    If your file is say over a DL then drop it down to 90% of the original & so on to get the right size for you..If your converting these to play soley on an Xbox 360 try to get the MAX bitrate to 15Mbits or close cos thats the max for the xbox according to M$..It can be over but try to get it close..

    I got this from another board that wishes to remain nameless. Any if you like please say thanks see my sig on how.

    It seems a lot easier just to use XenonMKV.

    Thanks for the guide. Do you know if that application utilizes more than 1 core to trans-code? And if so, how many can it use (2, 4, or 8)?

    Another Great App for converting .mkv files for use on the 360 (among many other devices) is ImTOO MKV Converter. You can download a free trial of course from their website. But I'm sure your likely find it on one of your trackers possibly. It can work slow, but the output quality is fantastic!

    Thanks for sharing useful post.

    The video formats that xbox 360 supports are .wmv, .avi, .divx, H.264, MPEG-4 an so on.

    If you got a MKV video file and want to convert and put it to your Xbox 360 for playing, you have to use a MKV decoder to transcode video files to a xbox playable video formats, like WMV, WMV HD.

    The program I am using is Aunsoft MKV Converter which is able to convert your video to xbox WMV flawlessly.

    More info: Top MKV Converter - play/convert MKV files, split/join MKV files, MKV DTS to AC3
    Hope it is useful.

    I appreciate the tutorial, but what about movies with subtitles? I use an XBox 360 to view my content and my biggest hurdle always seems to be with MKV's with subtitles.

    Thanks in advance.

    Nice tut, I still wish Microsoft would get their act together and add native support for mkv. Converting or streaming is still a hassle if you want to watch an entire series thats in mkv.

    @Warmonger32 you will need mkvtools, extract from the mkv and re-add them after
