This is part two of the watching Blu-rays on the ps3. Part one dealt with audio and can be found here http://www.torrent-invites.com/tutor...ps3-sound.html

This tutorial will attempt to explain how to watch Blu-ray files on the ps3 with video, on a hard drive. Some files that are in the Blu-ray format the ps3 doesnt read which results in a black screen.

There are two different ways in fixing this, using two different programs.
The first way is with a program called Mkv2vob which can be found here
Download mkv2vob 2.4.5 Beta 1 / 2.4.5 - Remux mkv with x264 video and AC3 audio to a vob file which is playable on the sony ps3 - Softpedia

The other way is you need to download tsmuxer and megui which the the links can be found in the part one link above. Note: I will explain this after because im still in the middle of testing this way.

I will attempt to explain the Mkv2vob way, its fairly simple and it works. You basically have to re code any video that shows a black screen. There are many reasons why some videos don't work, which will take up 2 pages to explain so ill leave it at that, basically if it doesnt work you have to re encode it.

So after installing and everything this is how the Mkv2vob program looks

Ok so where it says source file that where you choose the file you want and under destination directory it were you want to save the file.

Ok so under the configuration tab there are some great features and things you want to change. First off you want to change the file splitting to fat32 that's if your putting this on a hard drive of course. So it will split the new video files into 4 gigs each. Secondly, under video transcoding leave it to automatic.

Under that output file extension you can choose m2ts or mpeg, now I heard mpeg while watching the movie on the ps3 you cant hit square and select the scene, where as m2ts you can hit square etc, so I would say to choose m2ts.

Preferred subtitle language is common sense. And under transcoding codec; choose x264 slow. This process takes up to 12 hours on my computer, depends on your comp how fast this will be. If you want better qualitiy which you wont notice then choose the x264 high bitrate (slow), though im not sure how long this process might be because it re encodes at a slower pace, so you could be here for a long time.

On the right off all the tabs are boxes that can be checked or unchecked.
Check always transcode dts, which basically re encodes the dts file into ac3 automatically. If you dont now what that is read part one, the link is in the beginning of this tutorial.

Make sure 448 kbps Ac3 is checked thats the highest bitrate that the ps3 can read as far as I know.

And keep auto update checked as well. Once that all done hit the add tab at the top

and add you file ;) And hit the start button at the bottom left hand corner, and it will look like this

Like I said this process can take awhile depending on the speed of your computer. Once its done boom you have files that can be put on your hard drive and watchable on the ps3!!

The other way of doing this using megui etc and is still being tested so i will explain that once I make sure it works. Note: This process takes double the time of the one explained above!
The other process works like so use MeGUI and recode to the same codec the MKV is... which is h264.

-Tool --> New AVS Scrpit (AviSynth Script)
-Load your MKV, close the preview once it pops up
-Save, close the preview window once it pops up.
-Set the File Foramt to RAWAVC
-Set the Encoder settings to a proper Blu-ray profile. I suggest SA_Blu-ray_Fast.
    -Press the Enqueue button
-Go to the Queue tab and press start.

If you have everything configured properly it should start encoding, if you don't you may need to install AviSynth, Haali Media Splitter, and or CCCP.

Once it is finished recoding you can use tsMuxeR to remux your new h264 file with the original AC3 to m2ts.

Note this program takes double the length of the one above, so I highly recommend using the mkv2vob program. If your not sure how to use this program refer to the part 1 link at the very beginning of this post.

So again, If I helped you in any way, rep me by clicking on and "I accept" or the thanks button which is located on the bottom right hand corner of my post!
