I have no clue what real differences are between those if you want to reconstruct your CD. Any other opinions or suggestions would be helpful.
I know that the instrument women use on their fingernails is called an emery board, basically the same except that the paper would seemingly give you better versatility for shining a cd. I definitely think that the Meguiar's PlastX is a vital piece of the puzzle when doing this though. The tutorial also states that when done you will see very light scratches on the surface that are too small to affect playback, but you get get rid of these for aesthetic reasons by using finer grit paper.

Yeah I had a feeling. People, myself included, tend to skim through instructions too quickly thinking they know more than the person who wrote the instructions. lol I'm sure once you follow them step by step you'll have yourself a shiny new cd. Good luck:)

Not a bad tutorial.. I've had products like that in the past with no success. No offense, but the price of CD-Rs I rather just reburn it.

But you can also use only water if you want to remove oil or something like that on CD.

LOL.., Wish people would actually read this tutorial. The ammonia in urine may clean grease (I don't even wanna think about it myself) etc but NOT SCRATCHES. This tutorial is to help resurface scratched CD's. U need to follow all the steps.

I personally have a teen son., its taken him 8 years to learn to take care of discs (not leave them lying on the table etc). I also have a younger son., so unfortunately I think this tutorial will come in useful.
