    Hi dyeykey,

    I highly recommend ConvertXtoDVD. It's not free, but it's my most used program to convert any type of media file to DVD format.

    Impossible. HD DVD lost the format war and is now a discontinued format. Bluray is it's successor.

    If you're talking about an x264 mkv converted to DVD you're also out of luck since DVD doesn't support Bluray resolution.

    You're best investment would be a hardware media player. OMG! look at this beauty!
