Default Rep button is hard to notice

    hi,

We prefer to earn reps because it leads to higher VIP status, however, the rep button looks hidden to me. Should it be more noticeable and lighter color?

While 'Like' button is light blue, the Rep button is hard to notice (dark grey), hidden in the corner, and less people tend to click on it. For example, it's located on lower left under this post, it looks like a star. Well, just click on it if you don't know what it is.

If you truly earned the rep, we will find the button, however small and grey, to send you the rep.

Well I kinda agree.. when I first joined the website I always thought the "Like" button was meant to give reps because it was noticeable, nothing else was indicating a rep button. What makes it worst, even after realizing the "Like" button has nothing to do with reps, I still had a hard time figuring out how to give people reps

Higher rep members tend to notice the button and use it, because they once went through the same thing.
The "like" button is if you say something that someone likes, when the "rep" button is if you are really doing something nice for the community, like a giveaway, or helping with something, etc.

For example, for a nice post or tutorial, people tends to click on 'Like', and for a giveaway, people tends to click on 'iGivers', due to its easier to access. May be design similar visibility of both Like and Rep and let member decides which one to click?

I like how it is right now, what i don't like is a button standing out with no reason for it. Rep shouldn't be handed out as lightly as likes, and i believe we have it explained at the faq how the rep system works.
Maybe we could have it standing out more on the rules

It is funny how "Posted from Android app" button is so huge for no apparent reason.. while a button to thank/rep someone is hidden.

It's just a way to show people that we do have an android app

Anyway, about the suggestion. I like it's location and size, however I would agree with adding some color to it. Something goes to the report post button. Having such useful tools "hidden" has no advantages imo. I once used an old monitor and they were almost impossible to spot. On my laptop they are clearly visible though.

Btw, just for your information, this is only a problem in the standard theme.
I think we should go back to the way it was in TIv2 (not sure) when those buttons had some color. Or maybe we will have a TIv4 and this will be fixed. Who knows?

I agree with this idea, I would prefer to make it light green, just to make it easier to discover. The dark gray color (at least on a black background) looks like it's inactive or disabled to me. Even if I know exactly where to look I find it to be inconvenient. Secondly I would like to have the report button further to the right side, or at least not next to the rep button, sometimes I even hit the wrong button.

If we want new members to know where the rep button is located and/or to make sure they know how to give it properly you could add an a-b-c question in the intro's to tell which of these icons is the rep button, what rep is and when you are allowed to give it. And I think we have also seen enough of these threads related to what's the difference between rep and iGiver. Downside would be that including such questions in the intros would perhaps make the intro process slightly longer. But, there are like 20 much more important questions that I would like to ask in an intro.
