Thread: Radio Show

Hey i would like to have a radio show ... alot of places have one why can't we... i do a couple myself ... i'd be the first DJ

You couldnt be the first DJ, because.......... I was already one! ;)

Edit: (not to say i was the only one! it wasnt just that i was uninteresting, although that could have contributed. :p)

Ahhh those were the glory days......way back when...i dunno a couple years ago it feels like...

Anyhoo, we already had one and for lack of a better explanation there just wasnt a major interest. Not to say we didnt always have someone on it, it was used to its full potential i think but i guess people just wernt that interested.

I'd be up for doing it again if the forum changed its mind though. Id be happy to stuff my great music into your eardrums and let you listen to me bable. If anything we learned some very important things from the radio at t-i. The most important being a user: Nuzza had the sexiest voice youve ever heard and from then on everyone assumed his proffession was phone sex.

Yeah I remember this back when I first joined, I never listened though

I'd be interested in seeing a revival though if the staff allows it.

Hey guys you may want to do a search before you guys write a suggestion because if you can see this suggestion has been brought up many times before, was granted once and it didnt generate enough popularity so was shut down. We even had a DJ title which I held at one point. Dave was kind enough to provide us with the funds to have the radio up and running but unfortunately we could not generate the audience. With the time and money being devoted and only 1-2 listeners it was just not worth it to keep it going. I mean it is a great idea but you have to have the interest and have especially the support. We had plenty of people wanting to DJ just not enough people to listen. T-I has many other fun cometitions and things that members can participate. Again you need supporters and we just didnt have them.

All true but that was then and this is now. We've grown substantially since I've first joined when we had the Radio DJ class, hell there even a News Editor class back then (which I think should be revisited personally). I'd say this suggestion should be given a poll to see if there is a substantial amount of interest in it or not.

Personally I am quite fond of music from around the world and considering the multiculture nature of our site I would be interested in hearing what others listen to in their countries.

Never hurts to give it a shot anyways. Like I said in my earlier post i didn't fool with it when it was around and a lot of that was due to my "noob" nature in these things (not knowing irc that well, not knowing how to stream via a media player etc.) Nowadays I'd be more inclined to check it out when I'm around, just curious to see if more would do the same.

Well, in my honest opinion, humble as it may be (yeah right, im josh.) searching for suggestions that have previously been made is kinda silly; especially ones from this long ago.

Staff said forever that t-i was for torrent- invites strictly and now look - the 50 other previous suggestions stating it were all denied until one was accepted (i consider this a pretty drastic change from the previous status quo and there have been other changes that would "never happen" again as well). things change all the time, what there once was no desire for or thought to not be in the best interest of the site then maybe completely different now. If ive learned anything from my substantial time here at t-i its that the people in charge have ever growing and changing opinions on what this site should do and contain. If anything, people should dig up some real old suggestions that were good but rejected back in the day to see what the opinion on them is now. Idk if a poll is needed or what but i dont think it should be as quickly dismissed as "well we tried it and it wasnt too popular over a year ago." Most users dont even last a year of steady activity.

This time around we would obviously have certain services that wernt available to us previously that could also potentially boost listeners. When we tried it out the first time it was right at the tail end of when Reggie stopped doing regular IRC invite drawings, we attempted to give away invites but it wasnt very coordinated (Reggies has weekly or monthly announcements whereas the radios tended to be more random IIRC ) and i feel like it went fairly unnoticed by the forum community that wernt the regulars on the IRC. We now have the lotto game and other things which could prolly be incorporated into the radio somehow. Guess what im saying is if given the chances there is a couple new factors we have now that we didnt have than that could generate more interest in conjunction with each other.

That being said i have no idea if its even a financial possibility at the moment or if it would have the same issues as before.

I would be willing to give this another shot. When I am next free I shall see it happen!
