    Default Starting Member Changes

As of today "Starting" members will have limited posting privileges in our non-giveaway forums (The Help Desk, The Think Tank, and Introductions). All of the giveaway forums (Area 51) will still require an accepted intro for access. This will reduce the pressure on intro workers and allow them to review an applicant's posting history before promoting them to 10%.

One side effect to these changes is the need for additional staff to handle the increase in forum activity. We plan to start announcing additional staff promotions in the next few days. Please apply in this thread if you are interested in helping: http://www.torrent-invites.com/staff...mods-open.html

P.S. Starting members will not have access to Thanks or PMs, Announcements, BitTorrent News, or the Chopping Block until their introductions have been accepted and they are promoted to 10%. We have also disabled the old intro promotion system so you can Thank / Rep a Starting member without concern of accidentally promoting them to 10%. The only way to promote someone now is via the "Approve this Introduction" option in Thread Tools.

Sounds different i do have a question though does this mean they can pm other members? i some how think that should be restricted until they have completed the intro process and been promoted to 10%

Well most users with half a brain can do an application.
Making useful posts once signed up is a different thing, so if they are an ass, i guess it's going to make your job easier?

+1 they shouldn't be given the privilege to PM Untill they are promoted to 10% ..

and this is an awesome Idea Vegas as this will reduce alot of workload from the Intro Mods as now we can figure out who wants to be an active part of T-I and who doesn't want to be .. and wants to SPAM .. and this is also an great initiative as when i joined i remember i could only see only i think 2 sub-forums one was help and another was Introduction .. so now this way the new members can express their feeling and feel a part of T-I Without even being repped in :)

Sounds fantastic, I hope it makes things easier on you guys and allows for more cohesion among moderators. And it's good to see that the starting member must put a little more forward to gain access, methinks.

    - So do we encourage them to make a few posts before we accept their introduction?

    - Is making a few posts a prerequisite to getting accepted?

    No it isn't.

Though people that have made the effort to make non spammy posts should be viewed favorably.
I do retain the power to ban you even though i am retired. PM me at your own peril.

Sounds like I joined during a pivotal turning point in T-I

Well I've been reading through the forums thoroughly (in my opinion at least), and I'm trying to take in as much info as possible. And from what I understand, there has been abuse or negative use of privilages in the past. As a new member I agree entirely with the idea of earning those privileges.

Unfortunately, I was a bit apprehensive towards posting anything at all out of worry of doing something wrong (funny). But I needed to start somewhere, and I thought why not provide some insight as part of the new members that have to abide by these new rules.

Feel free to give me any pointers that might help me (and others) along the way :D
