FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What's this site all about?
Torrent-Invites was founded on the basis that all people should have access to private trackers. We opened our doors in 2007 and have been growing and thriving ever since. We offer invites to trackers of all levels and genres. Our members are the backbone of this site as they give as much as they receive.
I've registered but I still don't have access to the invite sections!
This is because you are still at 0%. To reach 10% and get access to our invite sub-forums, you must make an introduction and be "repped" into the community. To do this, go to our introduction section and create an intro. Once our intro team has approved your intro, you may begin posting in the invites sections.
Where are all the invites?
Invite giveaways are located in the Area 51 section of the site. You can search the different sub-sections to find the invite you are looking for. Additionally, you may open threads offering your invites in these sections. We also have a request section of the forum, where you may request the invite you are looking for. Please note that requests are only open to 33% and up.
Why can’t I access certain sections of the site?
Some sections of the site are locked until you have reached a certain percentage of site involvement.
What is a ratio proof? What is it used for?
A ratio proof is a screenshot of your tracker profile. When applying for giveaways, ratio proofs are often asked for as evidence of your tracker statistics.
My intro was rejected. What now?
If your intro was rejected, you are permitted to ask why. Please feel free to join #TIHelp in our IRC and ask to speak to a moderator. In some cases, you may be allowed to re-apply.
Where can I read the rules?
The main rules of the site are located here in the Announcements Section of the forum. However, we also have rules in each subsection of the forum.
Why are there so many rules?
The tracker community is a private, underground world that precious few are allowed to participate in. Invites are a precious commodity. Tracker admins are quick to ban if they think you are a threat. To that end, we expect our users to hold themselves to a high standard of behavior. Our rules are in place to protect you from losing your tracker accounts and to keep our community free of vermin who seek to harm us. Our rules are strict but fair, and if you follow them, you will have a long and pleasant stay at Torrent-Invites.
How can I get my user name changed?
If you are a Starting Member (someone who has not yet been repped into the community) and you have a valid reason to ask for a name change, you may do so here.
Other than Starting Members, only VIPs and members who have reached 99% may request a name change. Multiple name change requests may result in unfortunate consequences. Please be sure to choose a name you like, because more than likely we will not be changing it for you.
Where can I ask for help?
You have several options. You may post a thread in the Help section of the forum. You may choose to visit us in the Torrent-Invites IRC at #TIHelp, where we have several active staffers waiting to assist you. Or you may send a PM to one of our staff members. Please note that our mods and admins receive multiple daily PM's, so we may not respond to you as quickly as you'd like. Be patient.
What is this Exalted business?
Exalted? What Exalted...
How are people chosen for VIP?
You may choose to purchase VIP by donating to the site. Staff occasionally appoints VIP to lucky members who have proven their worth. The simplest way is just to donate.
What is rep? How do I give it? How do I get it?
Reputation indicates how active and trustworthy you are. Rep is given by clicking this icon: The more rep a person has, the more you can be sure they have been an active, committed, and honest member of T-I. You may see where you fall in the rankings by visiting this page.
My friend was banned. Can you unban him?
The simplest answer is no. We cannot unban your friend on your request. He/she needs to come to the #TIHelp channel of our IRC and speak to the mod who banned him.
I was banned. Can you unban me?
If you feel you can adequately explain the situation, please come to the IRC and ask to speak to the staff member who banned you. Only the staffer who banned you will unban you, and only if the ban was made in error.
How do I donate? Where does the donated money go? Are there any incentives to donate?
You may donate by going to this page. Donations are used to pay for our server and operating costs. Donations of 30 euros or more will grant you access to our VIP Lounge as well as a myriad of other benefits including:
- Access to the VIP Lounge
- Prioritized Help in the help channel
- Larger avatars
- Higher number of minimum requests open at any given time. At this time, you may have 2.
- Voice in the IRC
- A special IRC channnel for VIPs only
I'm a staff member/uploader/VIP/sysop on my tracker. Can I open recruitment here?
Yes, anyone with unlimited invites may open recruitment. However, you must have reached the 55% ranking on the forum before we will allow you to open a recruitment thread. There must also not be a current, active recruitment for that tracker, as we only allow one recruitment thread per tracker. We do not require you to have permission from your tracker, however we are not responsible for what may happen to your account if they are displeased with your decision to recruit. Please contact a staff member using this this form.
I want to be a staff member! Where do I apply?
You may look in the announcements section of our site to see if we have any openings for junior staff. Note that we do not allow tracker staff to staff at T-I as it presents a conflict of interest for our site. Please note that Super Moderators and Administrators are hand picked by senior staff and by our owner, Dave. Do not ask for one of these positions as we do not take applications and by doing so you are likely to kill any chance of further consideration. This includes current junior staff, which is defined as any staff member below super mod.
Can I help in the IRC Help Channel?
If you are interested in working in the help channel, and have proven you understand the rules of the site, PM one of the senior staff members who work in Help and ask for permission.
I am a blogger and would love to write news for T-I. Where do I apply?
You do not have to apply. Simply post in the Bittorrent News section of our site and your article will go live in our news section. Plagiarism is not tolerated at Torrent-Invites. Be sure to source any material that is not strictly yours. Anyone caught plagiarizing will be banned instantly.
Can I have halfop/op in the IRC?
I want to donate my server/licenses/seedboxes etc to the site. Who do I talk to?
We discourage anything but monetary donations. However, if you feel your situation is unique, send a PM to Dave, our SysOp.
I am interested in advertising. Who do I talk to?
Send a PM to Dave to work out the details.
Is this site legal?
