Shoutbox is to be on forum home page only!

I like having the shoutbox there but I can understand the reason to get rid off it if it's using too much of the server load.
I think it would still be useful to have on the homepage. When IRC is down people usually turn to the shoutbox to ask what's wrong. It's also useful as members new to the site sometimes use the shoutbox to ask for help.

That said, the shoutbox doesn't get much use as it is now on every page. I'd expect if it's only going to be on the homepage it'll get even less use.

From a new users perspective, I honestly can't ever see myself using the shoutbox. I didn't even notice it until I saw this thread.

I think the problem is because it is not situated at the top of the page like it used to be.I used the shout box a lot when it was at the top of the screen,I also remember a lot of other users did when it was like this,mabe because it is hidden away is the reason why members do not use it any more? If possible is there any way you could put it back there as a trial,see how it goes?

I'll say its good to limit it, however I haven't used it since it has gone on the sidebar. I used it frequently when it was bam right there in your face on the main page; but I seem to forget its there when It's on the side. So no change for me really. I'm in the IRC 24/7 so I use that now when I really have the urge to say something oh-so important!
