A warning to the T-I community
I have received warning that staff at a certain tracker, music.thenet, is under suspicion of attempting to defraud members, steal passwords, and hack accounts. Several members of MTN allegedly lost accounts at sites like What.CD and FTN after MTN staff stole their password and hijacked the accounts.
While none of this has been proven, enough whispers eventually become a roar. Please take extreme caution with this tracker. I urge you to think strongly before signing up at MTN. If you are already a member, here are a few steps you can take to protect yourself.
- be sure to protect your other tracker accounts by changing your password (and email if you can) at other sites.
- Use a different password at each tracker. Use a random password generator - a good one can be found here.
- Allow the account to die. Use other respected music trackers like Waffles, VIPMusic, STM, Elektronik, and TT
Closing your account may seem the best option, but several members report receiving a 404 error when attempting to delete their own account. Whether this is further evidence of malicious activity, or a genuine coincidence, remains to be seen.
Keeping you safe and secure as always,
--TI Staff
