That's part of the puzzle. I think that when you have the right key, you still need to find out the cipher, which is the encryption method used on those strings. Once you have the cipher, you can use that to decrypt the strings to normal text.

And the key is probably just a number. It is the number of times we read the first thing we read, basically. Or it is the number of times the first thing we read is displayed on the home page. However, it says 'its the numbers that interest me'. So not 1 number. I have no idea where this series of numbers could come from...
But once we have the numbers, guessing for the correct cipher (or fishing, like nehpets also hints) should become doable.

Ok I dont have the time to devote to this unfortunately (damn final year exams). But this is the idea I had, it may be completely wrong but hopefully it will help someone.

The first thing you see when you visit the site is the words that make up the url. DNS servers convert these to numbers (ip address). The ip of this site is 72.44.94.6. Also with reference to fishing, a lot of 'phishing' scams work by DNS exploits.

This could be way off but just my thoughts.

well, I tried the ip as the key with the following algorithms
    Cast-128, Gost, Rijndael-128, Twofish, Arcfour, Cast-256, Loki97, Rijndael-192, Saferplus, Wake, Blowfish-compat, Des, Rijndael-256, Serpent, Xtea, Blowfish, Enigma, Rc2, Tripledes.
    all Neg outcome..

maybe the dots of an ip adress are translated as a number code?

but OCDan, i don't think this is the good path to walk... an ipadress is not a 'they'

okay tried the ip as key in hex or binaric, in total number (4865E2C/011011101000110010010010) and in group of numbers(48 6 5E 2C/1001000 110 1011110 10110), but any of the previous algorithms failed :( bwaaaa i'm stopping here. Good luck everybody!

well i think i kinda know the encryption.. but i dont know which tool to use to decrypt it! tried 1-2 tools and they give different outputs for the same key and entered data!

I thought the cipher being used was obvious, unless it's being thrown in there just to mess us around. Willing to be Nehpets had the right idea there.

Good luck finding your key.

Well I spent some hours tring to solve this and Im still far from close, I think what they refer to as the first thing you see are announcements, since all of them have a number, i.e.
    http://www.torrent-invites.com/announcements-bittorrent-news/48588-glory-ascension.html
has the number 48588, so I tried removing all letters and group all numbers in 5's, and tried to access threads with them... so far 1 give away and 2 introduction posts, maybe Im way off, but still thought of sharing this, maybe someone else knows how to use it. I wasn't born with a decripter brain, so please don't be too hard with my guess.
