I agree. I think some people are just over complicating things. When you start a G/A you shouldn't be worried about how much rep you'll receive for it (well I never do anyway), you should be doing it to help others. Thats what it's all about. Being repped for it is just a byproduct of being helpful. Unlike the member I reported to an admin yesterday who keeps creating threads for the same tracker yet very few people actually receive invites.
Bottom line, use common sense, if a post is useful and helpful then thank it. Don't ever expect to be thanked for a post, it'll come eventually. These rules have always been in place and should really affect only a minority of users. The rep requirememnts to move up to higher sections are not that high anyway so it's not like you have to rep-pad with your friends.
